I doubt seriously the number of parents in a home determines when a child starts puberty. I believe the problem is the food supply.
Growth hormones are now a part of our food chain. Corn today is not the same corn we ate 20 years ago, just research Monsanto corn. Who knows what side effects are created from the growth hormones now in all our foods? We see the effect on chickens. Chickens are now 1/3 bigger than they were 20 years ago. BTW chickens are usually feed corn.
All the genetically altered food that we consume cannot be good. Schools are now buying new school desks because the kids don't fit into the older desk. Still want to blame it single parent homes?
My boy and his family run the third largest chicken farm in SE North Carolina. He gets that GMO shit all the time and laughs at it. Chickens are essentially the same size they were 20 years ago with the exception of probably breast size. GMO feed and artificial hormones in the raising and feeding of chickens for human consumption is prohibited by federal law. He measures his healthy chicks and selectively breeds them. It's not the Frankenstein shit the
Chicken Little's make it out to be.
Hell, my paternal grandmother raised chickens as pets and I haven't seen roosters or hens as large as hers since she died in '82. The difference between then and now is the time from birth to maturity. The reason why they grow so fast now is that it finally became economically feasible to keep the lights on 24/7. As long as the lights are on, those chickens will keep on eating. He sells most of his yields to Mountaire Farms in Lumber Bridge, NC. He has a Mexican dude with the most important task of making sure lightbulbs are replaced at night in the event they burn out.
I don't know what the controversy is over GMO. Hell, damn near everything man has ever cultivated is genetically modified. It's called artificial selection. Has anyone ever seen what most of stuff we eat looks like in the wild, uncultivated? Most of that shit is inedible, and in some cases, will kill you. Humans are living with average lifespans that make hash of what they were living less than a hundred years ago. Now is the best time to be alive in all of human history.
The food we are eating isn't the problem. It's the proportions that people eat that's the problem. We're gorging ourselves at the dinner table and coach potato-ing ourselves into oblivion. The blue-collar jobs people have today don't even cause people to break a sweat.

Just doing a little unscientific experiment, I turn to the Yellow Pages of my home town with a population of around 20K people. In the restaurant section, out of around 100 locations, over 2/5 of them offer buffet selections. There were only two when I was growing up.
