Child's Play Remake/Sequel and Halloween Remake on the way

No man, Zombie does the same shit in every movie he directs...adds some redneck weirdo who cusses and kills for the fun of it...
the reason I say it was good writing for the original was because the reasoning was so ambiguous...it was really left up to the viewer..who was Michael and why was he doing this? the mystery of it was why it was so chilling...

Zombie's shit is all the same in all his movies...I got bored with it after House of 1000 Corpses

"House of 1000 Corpses" didn't entertain me at all (still haven't seen it from beginning to end) but the sequel "Devil's Rejects" was much better.
Zombie couldn't do the "ambiguous" idea because it had already been done. What works in 1979 doesn't in the 2000s.
But I don't think it was that ambiguous to begin with. Michael was a fucked up, psychotic kid who grew up and continued killing people. I miss the ambiguity in that. Zombie just gave him a more fleshed out origin.

That one wasn't a remake, it was more of a prequel. I actually liked it! The ending made the whole movie worthwhile:yes:

That shit was garbage. It was okay for a while but the ending, not the part that leads to the 82 movie but the end of the action, was total shit. I went in with high hopes and they were not met.

Both those movies were dumb...in fact, horror remakes have been terrible..

Halloween
Friday the 13th

Nightmare on Elm Street
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Fog
The Omen
The Thing (2011)
The Last House On the Left
Amityville
Psycho
Wicker Man
The Haunting
Prom Night
The Hitcher
I Spit On your Grave
Wolf Man

I may be forgetting some, but they all have been embarrassing...I'm against remakes because some classics need to be left alone...Halloween could have been good and I was anticipating it, but it turned into a stupid hack job by Zombie

The only good remakes: Let Me In, The Blob (1988), The Thing (1982), The Fly, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Dawn of the Dead (2004)

The bolded ones are the only ones on that list I thought were good. The rest I either didn't like or didn't see.

But you're killing me saying "The Blob" remake was good. You must have seen that as a kid too. No one seeing that with adult eyes can say that was good.:D

really? You didn't like the Blob? and you are right I saw it as a kid and it was fun as hell back then:lol:

It was alright for my age at the time but it's not something I've wanted to see over and over.

Agreed..they did the original justice...some of the kill scenes were pretty good too...I'm going to spin off this thread in a bit

Zombie killed it with the Halloween remakes.

You actually could see where the little boy could have been saved(that Halloween night if mama didn't strip).

You see how cold blooded fucks can go either way.

Fuck all that mystery shit. I like the story. Then to have Loomis turn out to be a money grubbing dick. Perfect story.

Cats just can't get over the "good ol' days."

Most stories can be retold. If they are retold by good story tellers, they can be just as good.....or better.

But no one could curse like Chucky though! I think whoever does a Child's Play remake should bring back the guy who does the voice of Chucky, no other voice would be right!

they actually are bringing back brad dourif according to Fangoria

I don't know why. I thought it was boring and stupid...everyone that saw it too agreed with me that it was bad..even the critics thought so..in fact, I thought they were too harsh..atleast Zombie tried, I guess..the greatest aspect of the original was that this thing was a Shape...the shape of evil...and Zombie made him a tormented kid who tortured animals and had fucked up redneck parents...its bullshit and lazy writing...

the original was terrifying...imagine the true shape of evil that kills for no reason other than to kill...very horrific...plus the atmosphere...the music, etc. Zombie's shit was laughable and corny

:hmm:

This right here ^^^^. They kill great characters with this shit.

No, they didn't but they do now. Critics kill slasher movies except "smart" movies like "Scream"
I thought the idea of filling in the holes of what happened before he murdered his sister was good writing. And just when it seemed like he was going to make Myers "sympathetic" he had him kill the one person who was nice to him at the mental hospital even as he begged for his life.

I used to reminisce about the old days when those days were before my birth. So now that I actually have those "good ol' days" would I like a throw back? Yes. But a good - GOOD - remake when needed can be a good thing. If the rest of ya'll don't like it then that's your deal. But giving Mike his back story was to make YOU the viewer sympathetic to him, engage you as you go through the life and irrational decisions of a killer in the making. Ain't nobody suppose to save him...talking about killing the worker in the hospital...the fact that they spent the time and energy to create this story to fuel such an emotion - I can't call that lazy writing.

If you talking about the movie that got that fucked up ending where the damn thing look like some rubies...when I was like five that shit fucked me up. But now...what the hell was that?

Absolutely. I c/s everything you said.

For the most part I agree with you except for the prequel of "The Thing." It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but then I also saw it before it came out at a free screening.

The Halloween's were terrible.

I knew I wasn't the only one to think that those Halloween's were bad...I wouldn't be so mad if someone else had did it, but Rob Zombie recycles the same shit in every movie he does...and it wasn't scary

By the way, they are currently filming a remake of HELLRAISER and EVIL DEAD:(

Really? Both of those were groundbreaking movies but, when I think about it, I'm not surprised. Someone somewhere has to look at those and think about what they could do with the better special effects and being able to get away with even more in a R rated movie.

I haven't seen many Zombie movies, just the "Halloween" movies and "Devil's Rejects", and I haven't noticed him doing anymore recycling than any other director. In fact, he's not nearly as bad as Quentin Tarantino who recycles whole movies.

Again, if you've only seen "Halloween 2" in the theaters, I completely understand why you hate that movie. I haven't seen that version but I got the Director's Cut and just seeing what was left out (they note which scenes got left out on the dvd), I don't see how anyone could make any sense out of that movie.

Trust. There are many people who agree with you.

The reason they remake these movies is because of money. It is the same reason that most summer blockbusters are now comics. There is some familiarity with these stories so they don't have to spend the energy to actually create something new.

Of course there is. I hate "Titanic" and it's the biggest movie of all time. Nothing appeals to everyone.
I disagree with both of you on the "Halloween" movies but I'm   that there are people who don't like exactly what I like.

 They come with a fanbase, same reason athletes and singers/rappers get movie roles over real actors. Hollywood is about the money first and the art a distant second.

Remakes make people want to buy or rent the original ones whether they have seen it or not...its all a marketing ploy
