I think Dr. Dre is such a perfectionist, and he feels this project will either signify a re-emergence or an end for him, that he can't release the project for fear of it flopping.

Let's be honest, if this album flops, who will check for the next Dre album? Hardcore fans, maybe. Hell, you get the sense that no one under 30 gives a fuck, anyway.

I understand his hesitancy completely.

^^^ I think you the nail on the head! All of his leaked songs suck ass! If those songs did well, u think his would have dropped....Yep!

Like Usher redoing his album after it got "leaked". It sucked, so he went back to the lab saying, "My fans deserve to hear new songs."

just scrap the detox album (because no one cares anymore),,, take the detox beats, & give them to eminem,,, eminem is one of the last recording artist that still has multi platinum power (cacs support him by the droves),,, then sit back a collect a fat ass check

I think Dre is tapped out creatively.

It's not that he is no longer creative, but you cannot manufacture drive and hunger. Those things, I feel, allowed many artists to tap into their creative reservoirs. However, after you've become widely known, financially comfortable, or even affected by past failures...

...that state-of-mind needed to put forth your best creative effort just isn't there.

To me, there is a real difference between musicians/artists, and those with artistic/musical talents.

The former is a state of being.

I HAVE to play music, and I don't know WHY other than when I don't play, after so long, I don't feel that void.

Perhaps Dre falls into the latter category. Fame and fortune has made it difficult for him to create like he did when he first hit the scene has trying to gain the fame and fortune.

Detox is not real. Its like a unicorn. He never was going to release it because it never existed :hmm:

Those songs that were suppose to be on the album were just some BS to keep us talking about Detox. There is a 100% chance that if there was a Detox it would be his worse album.

To think we had a black president, the advent of facebook, castro relieving his dictatorship, the end of iraq war, the rise and fall of ringtone rappers, ll cool j's last offering, and still no detox. :smh:

Dre will never release it because he knows it wont be able to live up to the hype, which is probably why he hasn't released it.

If 'I Need A Doctor' is a sample of what the album would be like he should have no issues.

C'mon Dre.

That makes 2 of us. This shit is the "Chinese Democracy" of hip hop.

yeah but Chinese Democracy actually did come out but who wants to hear Axl w/ these new clowns? if it was the original GnR line-up it could've been trash but people still would've bought it cause it's the real GnR

it may have been Bishop Lamont or somebody that said that Dre will make a few tracks & drive around & listen to that & nothing else for days on end. then after a while he obviously gets tired of hearing it so he'll never release it. that's why Bishop's (or whoever said this) album never got released cause Dre played it for himself to death & got tired of it.

Dre is trying to come out with an album with whoever is hot at the time. By the time he mixes, arranges, rearranges, remixes that person is no longer hot.

He's reached a point now...to who's checking for this album?

that's why Rakim, Raekwon & (i think) Eve never came out w/ their projects under Dre.

I know Rakim wanted to work with certain people (Preemo for starters) but Dre told him no because he wanted to do something different. I never understood why he didn't sign Kane instead of Rakim, as he was more likely to experiment with new sounds.

Mane, for the real music heads...lets keep it SUPER REAL.

Dre made his come up off PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC and BOOTSY COLLINS music period point blank. Dre aint PRINCE ROGERS NELSON folks, he can't sit and compose nor play, he is simply a DJ who had the sense to use Bernie Wordell's and Bootsy Collins genius at a time in hip hop when cats hadn't taken sampling funk to a whole other level. Now that we have a generation of producers who have grown up on diggin and MPC's with unlimited memory to sample there's not a whole lot of shit left for Dre to bring to masses musically that would throw people for a surprise that any other good producer couldnt do. Attach curse words and you still are not gonna throw people in 2012 for a curve cause the SHOCK VALUE of cursing is long gone.

We shall see, but i agree with Quik, it aint ever coming out.

I stopped caring a long time ago, my attitude is if it drops I'll cop it, if not fuck it. I know his production is going to be on point, but the lyrical content is where I think he is hung up at. I mean what could he possible have to say at the stage he's at now? Gangsta rap aint hot no more especially coming from someone pushing 50 and he has never been one to 'kick knowledge' over beats so :dunno:

Either way there are plenty of other artist out that keep my playlist rotation hot at the moment so I'm not checking for it anyway.

I bet that's exactly what it is.

That was Bishop Lamont. Said Dre is such a perfectionist when creating he's listened to the song so many times over when it's actually finished he never wants to hear it again.

Dre is trying to create something timeless. A Timeless hip-hop album for the ages that can be compared to the likes of previous great musical works like Beethoven only for hip-hop.

Awww man I never knew that. I do that exact same thing make a beat listen to it till I get tired of it usually 3-5 days non stop. Then try to make something just as good if not better. Then when I make something I think is better the old beat gets put to the side and the cycles begins again.

:(

Just knowing this can cause Detox like delays is making break that habit ToDaY!!!

nah homie worry about that when you get to be as good as Dr Dre... moderation is key... plus Dre and his slow flow is simply not able to connect with the hot rhythm and beat like he did back in his heyday... I think he realized that and just can't release a sub-par album... He needs a dope ghostwriter and a rap tutor... But that will take a lot of work and like cube said... you gonna work 12 hours a day on Beats by dre or gonna work 12 hours a day on an album in a day and age nobody is buyin albums??

I respect dre if he doesn't release detox..that quik interview made a lot of sense. Dre is still an icon and legend in my book.

His flow wasn't slow in the NWA days.
