That totally depends on what You watch!
sound like the snobs on here who keep saying tv sucks yet they are in the hollywood section every day downloading tv series and movies
tv is geared to dumb us down
tv is geared to dumb us down
what I disagree with is the notion that substituting TV for the internet is some type of upgrade...
one could argue that it is actually less structured and secure then TV...
exposing you to even MORE damaging images and misinformation.
It's really the quality of what you watch. Who would consider "smarter", someone watching discovery, nat geo etc. or someone reads novels with paper thin plots and simplistic dialogue?
I don't watch much TV and read a lot too...
I call it being on BGOL...
tv is geared to dumb us down
so TV has absolutely NO redeeming value?
there is compelling tv if you want to find it. same as in any medium whether it be literature, music, the arts.
People spouting the sentiment in the OP's post are more interested in being seen as different than in any tangible benefit to not watching television.

I am FAR from defending TV but I dont think shunning it completely is good. I think all of these mediums radio, internet TV etc. are all teaching opportunities and whatever works for YOUR family is the best way.
but it doesn't IMPRESS me that you dont watch TV BUT you watch Homeland
Many dudes on the board have full time jobs, side hustles, families, exercise, read novels, watch foreign films and documentaries listen to hip hop country jazz AND classical music and post on BGOL.
now THAT impresses me.
