Apple's smartphone division is now bigger than whole of Microsoft

So iPhone division now bigger than Xbox, Windows and Office put together....mhhhh

Guess what?

After having Kindle 3 G for 1 year, I just realized I wanna watch films (via external HD) and read magazines in color.

Seriously thinking of getting an ipad. But I'm told it doesn't play flash and it also doesn't have a slot for media card

any recommendations?

The company's smartphone division generated $24.4 billion of revenue in the quarter up until December, whereas the whole of Microsoft generated $20.9 billion in the same quarter.
That includes entertainment devices such as Xbox, as well as Windows, Microsoft Office and Windows Phone.

Microsoft's figures were a record for the company, a five per cent increase on the previous year's revenue. Even so, the figures were dwarfed by Apple's.

It sold 37.04 million iPhones - its flagship product - and 15.43 million iPads in the quarter up until December, doubling from a year earlier.

Apple's hoard of cash now stands at $100bn - which could be enough to buy Facebook outright.

Apple only overtook Microsoft's market capitalisation in May 2010 - the first time the company had been ahead of its rival computer company since 1989.

Apple overtook Exxon to become the world's number one company in terms of market cap in August 2011.
Bussiness Insider, which highlighted the figures, said, 'The iPhone did not exist five years ago.'

'Now it's bigger than a company that, 15 years ago, was dragged into court and threatened with forcible break-up because it had amassed an unassailable and unthinkable profitable monopoly.'

Bigger than Exxon has over 100 billion and still overcharges the fuck out of pieces of shit. Way to go!

First,

"Apple only overtook Microsoft's market capitalisation in May 2010 - the first time the company had been ahead of its rival computer company since 1989."

Means Micro has been king for awhile. Not Bad!

Second,

The Ipad is a cool, smart device the non-flash thing is retarded and easily takes away from the tablet.

I see,

This is the "finish" line? and i think your wise to cash out $463 if history has taught us anything: Its first, surely their will be another microsoft, apple out there and secondly for all the success apple currently has its only a matter of time before things..normalize!

It's time for this guy to exit stage right.

Microsoft Admits It No Longer Rules Your Workplace

For you dudes talking about flash, open a utility that monitors CPU and Memory usage then open up a page with flash on it. Leave that page open for a couple hours.

I have ome back to my computer in the morning and seen flas using 2gig of memory and 150% CPU utilization.

Fuck flash. I don't need to see people falling down and doing retarded shit that bad.

:hmm:

Really pimp.....Fuck flash :smh: Thats the only thing stopping most people from getting a Ipad.

I have an ipad 2. Its a pretty cool device....the non-flash thing annoys the shit out of me.

I also have an ipad2 and actually regret buying the damn thing for this exact reason.

Next tablet i get is going to be Android or Windows 8.

Get a laptop, especially if you are going to tether it to a drive. Arm still isn't powerful enough to run everything without hardware acceleration and flash won't help that either and is depreciated.

OP, if you're worried about external memory and flash grab a transformer prime or regular transformer.
I won't get into everything but it has a lot of options with sd cards hdmi and such. I've seen them going for 350 on some sites.

I guess we overlooked this part.

If we assume that Apple generates the same operating profit margin on its iPhone business that it generates on its overall business--38%--the iPhone business generated about $9.3 billion of profit
Notice the word assume. It means they have to stay at the same revenue rate for not just the 4th quarter but the whole year. :hmm:

You can look at Flash videos on the iPad using the Photon web browser. It not a jailbreak...it's readily available on the App Store.

:lol::lol: I have 16gigs of ram and its never used that much CPU for me.

and just imagine if 50% of that was US jobs, unemployment rate would be 5%.

Maybe black people should stop running out to buy every IPhone until they stop hiring the Chinese and start hiring some black people.

Hey Cruise why doesn't Apple use some of that vacant manufacturing space in Detroit and open a plant and hire some of the disenfranchised.

Yea because 51 cents an hour would sure end poverty in America.

In case yall niggas ain't know.. Adobe killed Flash on mobile devices... This is like arguing why the Mac doesn't have a Floppy Drive

Adobe confirms: no Flash for Chrome on Android

Google issued a beta release of Chrome for Android earlier today. The browser provides support for modern Web standards and includes a number of compelling features that aren't available in the Android's default browser. One noteworthy Chrome desktop feature that isn't included in the mobile port, however, is the integrated Flash runtime.

Adobe has issued a statement confirming that Chrome for Android does not support Flash content. The company also indicated that it does not plan to work with Google to add Flash support to the new mobile browser. Adobe will, however, continue supporting Flash in the current default Android browser.

"Today Google introduced Chrome for Android Beta. As we announced last November, Adobe is no longer developing Flash Player for mobile browsers, and thus Chrome for Android Beta does not support Flash content," wrote Adobe's Flash Platform product manager Bill Howard.

Adobe struggled for years to make the Flash player plugin viable on mobile devices. Though it was able to make Flash work reasonably well on Android phones, results were mixed on other systems. Due to Apple's unwillingness to allow the Flash plugin on iOS and the difficulty that Adobe faced bringing the Flash player to new devices, the plugin never achieved the same ubiquity on phones that it has historically enjoyed on the desktop.

These setbacks caused Adobe to abandon its mobile Flash player strategy last year. The company announced that it would phase out development of its mobile Flash player plugin and not support it on new platforms. Adobe instead focused its mobile Flash efforts on developing tools for deploying Flash content as native mobile applications. It also strengthened its commitment to native Web standards and acknowledged HTML5 as the way forward for building rich mobile Web experiences.

When Google eventually moves to replace the default Android browser with Chrome in future versions of the Android platform, devices that run the operating system will likely no longer be able to play Flash content in the browser.
