Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, have both spoken out as Floyd Mayweather’s prison sentence was put back to June 1st and in effect, opened up the opportunity for a May 5th showdown with Manny Pacquiao.

Ellerbe, who was present in the Las Vegas court yesterday as Mayweather was given a five month's of breathing space until he serves a 90-day prison term, pointed at Arums continued shifting of dates for Pacquiao’s next fight.

"It's so funny how that guy waffles about every damn thing," Ellerbe told mlive.com. "I don't need to take up my time talking about him. At first, it was 'Pacquiao's fighting in May,' and now he says Pacquiao won't be available until June now. Imagine that."

Ellerbe was then pressed on which fighter may be in line to face the WBC champion on May 5th and answered: "To be honest, I don't know. First things first, we had to get this taken care of. I haven't had two nights' sleep in the last two weeks so I don't want to comment on any of that.”

Schaefer, who has had Amir Khan’s controversies to deal with as well as conversing with the Mayweather camp, is adamant that the Top Rank CEO is the only wedge in the door stopping the super-fight from being signed.

"I think all the media members and fight fans, and so on, have started to get it,” explained Schaefer.

“Bob Arum doesn't want that fight. I don't know how much more proof people need or if they're just drinking Top Rank's Kool-Aid, or what it is, but it's apparent to just about anyone by now, hopefully. Those that don't get it yet, I think you have to wonder.

"He knows where to find me (to negotiate). The fact is, he doesn't want to do the fight. Look what happened. When Pacquiao fought his last fight, we said Mayweather was going to fight on May 5, and Arum said Pacquiao wasn't going to be available, it would have to be in June. Then, when it looked like Mayweather wasn't going to be available in May, suddenly, Pacquiao was going to fight in May. And now, suddenly, Mayweather is going to fight in May, guess what? Pacquiao isn't available until June.

“Who is he trying to fool? More and more, I think people are starting to realize he's full of s**t."

Rumours are now rife that Pacquiao v Marquez IV or a Lamont Peterson fight are in the works and Mayweather could face Saul Alvarez or Robert Guerrero, so add to that the fact that Mayweather goes to prison on June 1st and the fight everyone wants is facing another twelve months on the backburner.

This shit is disgusting to be honest.

I never understood how Arum was able to control the media the way he did, but I'm glad he got so cocky that he thought can say anything and Mayweather and 'em are finally playing the media game just as hard to expose the bullshit.

There really is no explanation for it other than Arum doesn't want his money train to possibly end on that note. I think Pac would fight, but he leaves it up to Arum.

Sorry, I can't let him get away with that. All Pac has to do is just say, I'm fighting Mayweather or I am going to run for president. Seriously, that's it. I blame Pac for not having the marbles.

Everyone says "I think Pac wants to fight." I know a few things. Marquez was the fighter that gave him problems. Instead of fighting him (which of course ended up being the biggest fight of his career) he fought:

Diaz - 140 lbs (wtf)
Cotto - (okay - you know how I feel about this fight)
Mosley - (no fucking comment)
CLottey- (:hmm::hmm::hmm:)
Margarito (:hmm::hmm:)
Hatton (:hmm:)
De La Hoya (I understand this one. Doesn't matter what state Oscar is in, he is the gatekeeper)

Pac doesn't want to fight shit. Any fighter that allows this type of fuckery is weak mentally. Dude doesn't want the fight. Did anyone hear him after the Marquez fight? He wasn't even forceful - all he had to say is, if y'all think this is some b.s. then I will fight him or Mayweather. Period. I don't want Bradley, I don't want some bum ass fighter from Top Rank. Sorry, but I am not gonna blame Arum. That's like getting mad at Don King for being Don fucking King. I blame the fighter empowering this fool.

You have a pretty good point there Ninja05, but do you think Pac will do what Cotto recently did and make himself a free agent? I highly doubt it.

That is all he has to do in order to make that fight happen.

Pac is Top ranks whole operation. They make things happen and control power brokers in boxing based off the money Pac generates. Arum knows that and Pac knows that. If Pac really want Floyd he wouldn't have allowed discussions of another fight when it looked like Floyd was going to jail. Lets say he is the victim of Arum pulling strings without him, why wouldn't he just go to the media and say "I only want to fight Floyd". He was able to reach out to he media during the talks prior to Floyd's guilty plea to talk about wanting the fight.

ok i was on pac side until arum started with this bullshit.

Newsflash!!!!!!!!!! Arum has been on this bullshit for two years now. It's only now that people like Dan Rafael are starting to call him on it... Where are the Michael Wilbon's and the Brian Kenny's at now??? Calling the man a coward and every other name under the sun.

They would have to follow boxing to be able to call out Arum.

Pretty much. Remember when golden boy had Pac signed, sealed, delivered? Arum sued and now Top Rank and Golden Boy are eating off Pac? Well, Pac is in a straight record company type contract. He is top rank for the foreseeable future. All he can do now is simply call ESPN. Look the camera straight in the eye and say I want Floyd and then I want Marquez. I want 50/50 and Ill do the testing. Period

As the tide of public opinion turns against him (thanks to Arum shenanigans mainly), he's getting to the point where he's going to have to.

Bob is a major dick. But to put it all on him is silly. It is Manny's fault more than Bob because he should want to make the fight. Same for PBF. Dude retired when they first talking about Manny. Then came back and declared a fight with Juan a day before seeing what Manny was going to do. If he wanted Manny he could have waited a day to see what Manny was going to do. Not to mention the gay ass steroids shit once people really started amping up a fight before the two fighters. Both guys are way more guilty than Bob.

:smh:
You're trying too hard and not hard enough at the same time.

You blame Manny more than Bob, even though Manny works for Bob. You're blaming the employee and not the employer?

Please notice that from the start up until now Arum came out and said he was unsure of the fight for all types of reasons.

More than that...remember when Floyd had his first reign in the welterweight division, when he beat Judah and Baldomir? People were asking for him to fight Cotto or Margarito. What was Arum saying then? They weren't ready yet (moreso with Cotto than Margarito). However, Cotto fought Judah the next year and then in 2008 after the Mosley fight, both he and Margarito had a tune-up to their first matchup.

Like it was said before, it's just now that more people have started to see it

Yep. Arum has always kept Top Rank fighters away from Floyd.
