$99 Refurbished HP TouchPad to be sold at eBay for public sale on Dec12
A $99 tablet computer sale is going to happen on Sunday, December 11, 2011 exclusively for HP employees, but will also be offered to the public the next day, Monday.
As noted at TechCrunch on Wednesday, December 7, Hewlett Packard (HP) sent an email to their employees recently announcing the $99 tablet computer sale via eBay, the refurbished HP TouchPad.
According to the report, the refurbished HP TouchPad will not be available in any other HP stores including the Home & Home Office store, small & medium business store, HP EPP or the HP business outlet.
The company requested the public on their email not to call any of their call centers because they are not capable of processing an order and could disrupt its regular sales activities.
“Refurbished HP TouchPads, both 16GB and 32GB versions, will be posted for sale through the HP eBay store at: 6:00 p.m. (Central Time), Sunday, December 11.” HP was quoted on their email.
“If you are interested in purchasing a refurbished TouchPad, please make yourself a reminder to log-on to eBay a few minutes before the sale starts to make your purchase.” HP added, noting that the item will be available at http://stores.ebay.com/hewlettpackard under “Laptops“.
HP noted that the 16GB and 32GB refurbished HP TouchPad versions will be sold for a fixed price of $99 and $149, respectively, until supplies last but via PayPal only, on the mentioned date and time for HP employees only.
The refurbished HP TouchPad will come with a 90-day limited warranty, which will also be available for public sale on Monday, December 12; and is not associated with any HP-sponsored employee purchase program.
There will be a limit of only two (2) TouchPad SKUs for each eBay member, which will be sold on a first come, first served basis, and there will no additional discounts for HP employees at eBay store price.
In addition, there will be an optional 3-piece accessory bundle with a case, charging dock and wireless keyboard for $79, which has an estimated regular price of $199.97.
