There's a BIG difference between, not wanting white people in your personal life. Not wanting to deal with them in your personal private life. And then HAVING to deal with them in business. I'd prefer NOT to deal with them in business either. I try to limit my interaction with them as much as possible. Just as i believe MOST black people should do. We keep running to white people for things. And we shouldn't. We use whites as a last resort, and if they're the only option. Then so be it.
Your mother didn't want you buddying up to white girls because she probably knew what the end result could've been. Ive never dated interracially,however if folks want to indulge and they are happy,all the best to them.
However i find that black folks have to compromise a lot to make these things work,especially when dating someone white.

Not equal through mine. I don't believe that at all. The black man is my leader. That's his natural place to me. It's his natural place to a LOT of women. Most of the women on this board will admit this i believe. So him being in a leadership role automatically makes him different than me. His responsibility is different than mine. It can even be said his responibility is weightier than mine. To us his job is to take care of home, and his village. Including the people there.

I think it's funny reading this thread and so much that has been said from both sides, it's gone from one extreme to the next. I will stick with the fact that I'm not for dating outside my race, and at this point my options for dating or being with black men hasn't run out.
However, I don't care for my son dating outside his race as I stated, but I refuse to believe it means he doesn't love me or respect me, if anything it's telling me when I said to him have to make your own decisions in life and find your happy, that means he listened to that part and realize I can't live his life for him. For that I'm not upset. If he came home and said he was going to marry her, would I jump for joy, hell no, but I also know if I protest, she wins.

It's what they were trained to believe. Trained to do. Anytime you have anyone speak out for black people. Or for the black community you will ALWAYS. ALWAYS! Have these kind of people who will speak against it. Most times they hate themselves. They hate everything they are. They hate everything they've come from. And they wish above all else they were not black. They have no pride. No self respect. No respect for their ancestors. No respect for their struggle. No respect for their own spirits.
They don't understand why you would not want to be with white people. They don't understand fundamentally why you don't want to associate with white people. They cannot fathom it. It boggles them. They can't think of a life without white people. And it's scarey for them. Because like many, they don't believe in themselves. They don't believe that they really can exist without white influence. When they got this community going the way it's going, to my understanding there were 2 black people who stood against what they were trying to do. They didn't want to be apart of it. We're trying to BUILD. Those people moved away. The overwhelming majority of people in this community were DOWN for what's happening. The men! They were down for it! I don't know what this is called. But i know it's called SOMETHING. You guys do this on this board quite a bit. Why do i have to have something in my life, that can exist fine outside of my sphere? Alot of guys got in a huff because my wife didn't like light skinned men. The light skinned guys got in a huff because of their innate belief of entitlement. She said it multiple times but all the light skinned guys heard was "this black woman doesn't want me".

There are 2 EMT's on this block, and 2 trauma nurses. And 1 General Practice doctor. We're covered. Mother in law was also a Trauma Nurse in her day. That's the beautiful thing about how this neighborhood works. It can sustain itself. Without interference from whites. We have our own stores. Own nurses. If we could get a clinic we'd be GOLDEN.
