NBA canceling games through out Nov. Players pissed

From my perspective it seems like there was some fuckery going on because as soon as the tv contract for the world tour was just leaking out, the nba came with this we are close

Naw the TV deal was in the works since last sat word came about around progress was this week.

Still if anything this was more to force the players in a corner than ruin their Tour. As we saw the players did all of that on their own.

From what I read, no, but they have to concede by Wednesday next week.

The clock is ticking; either they hold tight on 52% and say bye to the season or go to 50 and get it done before too many games are lost.

The owners will fuck them for canceled games, so they either got to go the distance or get ready to deal next week.

exactly

looks like the world tour is a wrap some players wanted to keep it going with who they had but obviously it was over.

Amare announced after Dwight dropped out he would have been next

Remember this is the guy saying the players should form their own league

 most players make millions. and have college degrees. how the fucky fuck you cant stArt or invest in a profitable business? you already have the means to never work again. stern is trying to get his blacks back on the playing field so the massers er masses can enjoy

I agree except for the part where most players have degrees. Plus alot of the players that have degrees have them in bullshit areas that were designed to help them stay eligible. There are a few like Etan Thomas, Grant Hill and Maurice Evans that are well read, business savvy intellectuals. Most of these cats aint exactly brainiacs. Most of them think a great business opportunity is opening up a club or a rap record label. Sink in a bunch of money into it, let their boys eat for a year or two and then fold

I think the players got hustled.

I had this feel also, just has that slick shit vibe to it, the one thing THEY(players) had crumbles because the NBA says things are looking good. That World tour WAS/IS something huge.

like the nfl lockout, once draft time came, things were good for a day or two....i know it's not the same but it was still funny how that took place

Not yet. This was the owner's plan all along and the owners didnt want to truly negotiate until after checks for the upcoming season are missed.

The problem with missing the season is that the owners will lose close to $2 billion so it isn't in their best interest.

They are hoping that players are broke and fold but if that does not happen their strategy will fail and the tables will turn

Owners bout to start smellin the blood in the water.......

Update:

Looks like Kobe KD and Boozer were disappointed and a little upset they had to cancel. The tour due to certain players dropping out. They are trying to pick up the pieces to start another one but fear after this will be hard to get players to commit

Miami Heat owner went on twitter to voice his frustrations with the lockout and told fans he isn't one of the owners holding things up. Proving what Derek Fisher said the big market owners want a deal but their vote don't count.

Billy Hunter feeling the pressure from the agents

Like I stated the owners nor billy hunter have any nego skills. Billy Hunter is the players achilles heel.

A part of me thinks guys like Dwight, CP3 and Deron are secretly hoping on a full year cancelation. It would expedite their free agencies and would give them the ultimate public relations free pass so they can leave their respective teams.

Think about it: Small market teams are idiots. If they cancel the whole year, they'd have to insist against an amnesty provision, mandate a true hard cap, and mandate against exceptions.

Imagine we miss the year: Dwight, CP3 and Deron are instantly Free agents. Imagine the hard cap at $54MM and a max deal at only 20% of the cap (worst case NBAPA economic scenario). A max deal then starts at $11 MM. CP3 and Deron start at $11MM: The Knicks have only $41MM in guaranteed contracts (without new rookie obligations which haven't been worked out yet) equals CP3 walks on to the Knicks with no problems. Dwight walks onto the Clippers who will have only $40 MM in obligations. Deron walks onto the Mavericks who only have $44 MM in obligations. Is this what the Small Market teams want??? The rich to get richer instantly? And lets not forget the Celtics will only have $30MM in obligations, which they would scoop up every other FA?

The more I think about it, it's in the small market teams best interest for a season to happen. They have to get value back for their expiring contracts or risk being mediocre while the current batch of superstars get older. As a Knicks fan I want a cancelled season as it ultimately ensures CP3 will squad up and that Deron bounces the Nets to Dallas. Look at the numbers, it makes too much sense, and that's why the superstars aren't budging off 52%.

Like I said before, the biggest conflict is actually between the owners not the players. The problem comes from the small time owners trying to make up the differences in revenue off of the players.

No telling when the lockout will be over but a 50-50 split is not acceptable.

There is conflict among the players side. Fisher was willing to accept the 50-50 split.

Remember last week they said they were not going to agree to anything until seeing the system. They saw the system yesterday and Thursday and again as Stern said they assume the players would accept 50-50.

Billy confirm reports that he receive calls from agents about the deal.

Again if you are the Owners u have to feel you are in control.

The only reason they are not agreeing to a 50-50 because they felt they cave in on so much already.

I mean look at it. They were at 57. In July they said they were staying at 55. September 54.. two weeks ago 53 now Hunter saying they are not going a penny below 52.

Again the players the only one moving. People are saying the magic number is 51.

One more thing look at the players they didn't show much unity dropping out a tour that was direct response to cancel games.

Ive watched every press conference this week on NBATV. Billy Hunter is too emotional. He seems to be taking this shit personal. I think he is in over his head with this one. Demaurice Smith always seemed in control and professional in the NFL labor talks. Billy Hunter acting like a jaded bitch. Never have someone in charge of shit that in 2011 still rocks a Nipsey Russell fro
