Another guy who could have but didn't get a world title run in the 80's: Tully Blanchard

I think him being on the smaller side and his own drug habit (not to mention he came up during the Flair era) kept him away from the NWA title.

Dixie Carter will lose TNA because Spike will simply have to buy her out and it's WCW all over again.

Doubt it. Dixie doesn't own TNA, her parent's energy company do and it's profitable.

Plus Stan Hansen and Doctor Death Steve Williams won the triple crown championship in all japan is considered a major world championship. Stan Hansen and Doctor Death were bigger in Japan than in the states.

Terry Gordy also was Triple Crown champ for a minute. They wanted him to be the new Stan Hansen but he had, yes again, a drug habit and it made him unreliable.

Watching Smackdown tonight, I think WWE should make a play for Desmond Wolfe and pair him with Wade Barrett. Give them a manager like Cole, and I think they could be dope together.

They wanted to bring him before but he didn't pass his physical, that's how he ended up in TNA and why he's back in ROH as an announcer. Since they don't believe in managers (except Vickie), I don't see it happpening.

Yes he is, but damn sure don't seem like it. I think they just gonna let that shit fade til people forget about it

It seems like they're building a heel turn for him but I hope not.

Well as Dave has said, WWWE likes to push new talent and then job them out to see how they handle it. But to my knowledge they've only done that with heel like Sheamus & Barrett. Bryan haven't been jobing his entire stint like Kaval did. Bryan was some what undefeated for a while after his feud with the Miz. They're making Bryan save the mitb briefcase so that's he's the first person th cash it in at WM. The World title match will most likely end up being a triple threat match so that Bryan loses up gets an surprise win.

He got a better push than Kaval ever did, that's the truth. He was hot and now he's ice cold. But they're doing Ezekiel Jackson the same way. When was the last time he won a significant match? Jinder Mahal's getting jobbed before he even gets a push.

WWE 12 - The Road to Wrestlemania

European title in the game.:D ( possibly 27 titles in all )

Which is a shame because Wolfe(McGuinness)as a manager would be fantastic. Also James Mitchell has always had a great presence and though it now will never happen Larry Sweeney would have been awesome and should have been in the WWE 3 or 4 years ago.

I think that Bryan could work as a heel.As a matter of fact,I think that if he hadn't gotten fired right at the beginning of the Nexus angle he'd be alot better off now.He would have been a heel which he pulled off in ROH and he would have been the in ring workhorse of the group allowing him to get over.Plus Bryan is at his best as a character when he is being intense and showing emotion and that would have probably been the major thing with his character while in Nexus.

Mahal got to beat Dibiase on Superstars this week.Apparently the company thought that he was going to be alot better in the ring than he is and were disappointed with him pretty quickly.

I thought about Gordy and Tully also. I also considered Nikita Koloff and Magnum TA but I ommited all four of them. Just like I left JYD off my 80's should have been world champion list. Nikita won it in the 90's and Magnum TA would have eventually won it had he not had that horrific car accident:smh::(. Gordy was a beast in Japan but I was only talking NWA WWF AWA. Tully was great but I agree he was too small. I thought Terry Taylor had potential in the 80's but he did not go on my list either. Billy Jack and Jim Duggan did not make my list either. Billy had the look but he was bland personality wise but better than Lex Lugar. Duggan as a heel would have been a decent world champ in the 80's but as a goofy babyface not in this reality.

Never saw Sweeney but James Mitchell not working for WWE, TNA or ROH is criminal, especially compared to some of the people working as managers now, like Truth Martini.
TNA looked to be going with Wolfe working with The British Invasion as their manager/spokesman until he returned to the ring and I think it was a mistake to let him go.

I've seen Bryan work heelish and he's good at it, I just think they've done a lot of switches lately and should hold off on anymore.
Bryan lost a dark match to Barrett last night.:smh:

If that's true, that's their fault. That's what scouting is for. Bring him in, send him to Florida, don't just put him on the main roster and then be all  that he's not what you thought he would be. Same thing happened with Sin Cara.

Damn, you threw out some more names?
Man, I used to really like Terry Taylor. That guy could go. Forget the Red Rooster, I think he was at his peak after his heel turn in UWF and when he came back to WCW and had a tag team with Greg Valentine.

I know there are some Vengeance threads but dammit, this is the official wrestling thread for this board.
Vengeance looks to have been pretty decent. I hate that Zack Ryder couldn't beat an exhausted Dolph Ziggler but I expected him to lose so that Ziggler could lose his title to Mason Ryan. Fuck what fans think, Vince has a new musclehead to push and that's how it's going to be.
The one thing I hated more than that: Randy Orton beating Cody Rhodes. This is the third straight IC champ who can't win non-title matches. Let Orton go on a losing streak like so many other guys.
Of course Punk was the guy who got pinned. It would have been nice if Truth or Miz had pinned HHH but we know that wasn't going to happen.

There were five, FIVE!!!, ppvs this month: WWE Hell in the Cell, Urban Wrestling Federations Hood Justice (taped), AWE Night of the Legends, TNA Bound For Glory, and WWE (again)Vengeance. I get WWE and TNA having one ppv in a month but for either of them to have two is ridiculous especially when WWE had a ppv two weeks before HitC and another show three weeks before that.
The AWE show was said to be horrible with only a couple good matches on it and a bunch of glitches and fuck ups an a shitty main event (Kevin Nash vs Ricky Morton in an "I Quit" match). Why was this on ppv and charging 24.95? At least Hood Justice was only 15 bucks and had really good wrestling on it.

Why has it gotten to the point where the people who run wrestling have no idea what they're doing?

Rant over.

I was just happy (and shocked) to see that Nash once again did something in the ring without injuring himself.

You pretty much nailed the rest of the PPV. Why not have Ryder win the U.S. title, if only until the next PPV. Because clearly Vince is actively NOT listening or giving a fuck about what people want. Same thing with Orton beating Rhodes. Orton's win means nothing, but a clean win for Rhodes would have been great for a upper mid card guy, but of course he lost.

And the whole Henry / Show ring collapse thing just seemed weak. As soon as they went to near the turn bucket, I knew what they were doing. And the Lesnar / Show one was simply better. Even the commentators were better back then. Taz and Cole (back in the day Cole) screaming "Holy Shit"

Vince gave Ryder some run because he is super over and not just with the fans that follow his internet show. But Vince doesn't like him like that and he's got a new roid monster to push and in his mind, he knows what we like better than we do.
I was hoping Orton would lose but I didn't expect him to and that's a shame. Why would people buy ppvs if they think they already know what's going to happen. Rhodes did beat Orton once but he needed this one because it's the ppvs that seem to last forever. They just slowed down his progress in being taken seriously.

I don't have beef with that ending. The crowd popped huge for it and they had neither guy lose, leaving room for a rematch. Plus Henry got to look like a fucking monster since Big Show had to be carted out and he almost left under his own power. That was not an accident. They've really gotten behind Mark Henry.

Just watched the whole Impact! from last week and you have to be kidding me about that show.
Nothing on AJ-Daniels. No RVD. No highlights from BFG except for the Hogan shit. And like a hour and fifteen minutes of talking and not good talking.
I get why Hogan didn't want Roode to win. With a title change, they couldn't book the whole damn next episode of Impact! about him and his face turn. Now we get to build toward his next match, like anyone gives a shit. He should let that be his swansong, at least in TNA, in the ring.

I'll say one thing, after seeing the emotion of Mark Henry when he won his first World title and now James Storm, it's real to them dammit!

So has it been confirmed that Rock is gonna wrestle at Survivor Series? It would look like Rock, Cena, HHH, & Punk vs Miz & Truth, Del Rio, & Nash or Brodis Clay for the main event.

30 minutes spent on seeing Nash hit Triple HHH with the hammer ???? can you say time filler.... and when did they start calling Sheamus the great white ?????

You hit on two points that really bothered me with the last Impact. First off, there was no mention of those matches you mentioned. They just dropped anything that didn't have to do with Hogan or a title. And there is WAY too much talking on Impact these days.

The second thing you mentioned was the emotions of James Storms after he won the title. Its the thing that makes it hard to be mad at him. Roode should have won the title on their biggest stage, but it was still good to see Storm win it. Even if the match was only 3 minutes long.

I'm am again surprised to see that Nash did a segment without hurting himself, although I do agree, did that segment really have to be that long.

Damn. When was the last time John Morrison won a match. Dixie Carter needs to get at this dude as soon as his contract is up. He could have some great matches with some of the talent over there. Would love to see him and AJ Styles in a match.

Why the hell do they keep putting Cole, King and JR in matches? Do people really give a fuck about their matches?

Finally Alicia Fox beats Natalya!!!!!!!! And makes her own save

:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

Nice to see her but damn the gave her some b.s. music.

He would just come in and be bland and misused and knowing TNA so would Melina who they would bring in with him and we'd be hearing about a Kaz,Tracy Brooks,Morrison and Melina situation. They wasted RVD,Booker T and they will waste Morrison too.
Why the hell do they keep putting Cole, King and JR in matches? Do people really give a fuck about their matches?

Nope.I'm guessing that like Cole's heel antics it entertains Vince so we have to deal with it cause it's not about the entertainment of the consumer but appeasing the old man.

Vince likes seeing Ross in embarrassing situations. That's all he cares about.

I'm starting to think that Ross fucked Linda something. I just can't see another reason for Vince to be so fixated on shitting on Jim Ross for so many years.

Wrestling has forgotten how to build matches. Advertising that the Rock is going to be in action @ Survivor Series before it became an in-story match was stupid.

this

they seemed more concerned with selling tickets and the PPV buyrate than selling a storyline

It's almost sickening how lazy they've gotten with this shit. That was the dumbest build I've ever seen in my life.

WWE has confirmed on their website that Mick Foley will be appearing at the November 14th three-hour RAW Supershow from Boston. Up until this week, only the TD Garden in Boston had announced Foley.

Im calling it now. Foley & Rock are in the ring when Cena and later Punk will enter the ring to take their shots at Rock, then Foley(who is best friends with Rock in real life)will have had enough and give one of his psycho promos that will shut them both down.

WAY too much talking for a company called Total Nonstop Action. All the stuff that happened on BFG and we got almost no clips and little mention. WWE would never do that with Mania. Before Storm beat Angle, nothing else happened other than Kim coming back and we were through talking about that after the commercial break.

The second thing you mentioned was the emotions of James Storms after he won the title. Its the thing that makes it hard to be mad at him. Roode should have won the title on their biggest stage, but it was still good to see Storm win it. Even if the match was only 3 minutes long.

I've always thought Storm was a little better than Roode but to spend all that time building up one guy and not putting the belt on him and to put it on the guy you haven't been building, clearly to beat down the outrage once fans found out what happened backstage is a dumb idea. But with Angle hurt, they had to get the belt off him. Do Sunday night, assholes.

His contract is coming up so they're going to job him out like they did Sheamus. He re-signs, they will push him again. If not, I hope he goes to Japan and does some shows for ROH or Dragon Gate to become a better worker before he goes to TNA.

Nope.I'm guessing that like Cole's heel antics it entertains Vince so we have to deal with it cause it's not about the entertainment of the consumer but appeasing the old man.

Yep.

Haven't watched Raw yet so I have nothing to say about that. But I think this thread will be around a while.

Nah. Rock, Cena, and Punk are going to be buddies and the target for their jokes will be Miz and Truth (Awesome Truth, goofy name but I like it). Maybe Cena and Co. lose because of "miscues" and they build heat between Cena and Rock leading into Mania.

Although, with Mick talking about having one more match in him, a Punk-Cena vs Foley-Rock match, with Foley doing the job of course, would be an interesting main event for one of the B ppv shows.

smh. how u g from facing the rock at wrestlemania to teaming with him at survivor series :smh:

and that kevin nash angle is bullshit imo. how the hell did the angle turn from cm punk and nash to hhh and nash on the fly wtf is vince doing
