Saw this on the news...The idea of prison industry being for profit just seems ....wrong! It's like the fox is in charge of the hen house..

One stat they quoted...and I don't remember exactly, but the state spends $18k to lock up a prisoner vs $3600(?) to educate a kid...

Check out companies that build prisons and jails. Look at investing in those. That's a good bet.

When I heard the amount they make I was like damn. And like you said, it does undermine the workforce in this country.

And I'm shocked at what all is made/done in Prison....I just thought they did license plates. I'm not sure if they still do this, but at one time, when you called places like Sears and JCP to place catalog orders, that's where those calls were being handled.

Truly a billion dollar industry.
