Just got me a Macbook Pro......any suggestions?

Just got me a Macbook Pro here are the specs:

15-inch with Lion
2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz
750GB 5400-rpm1
Intel HD Graphics 3000
AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDR5

with Microsoft Office and Adobe 5.5 Master Suite.

Any advise? I am new to Mac OS. I also ordered me the Magic Mouse and a sleeve to put it in.

All of this is for school. What can I do to keep my battery healthy? I heard to drain it when I first turn it on then charge it and drain it again.
