Even though the story is about a slave getting revenge on a slave master it's still not the slave rebellion film we've all wanted to see since The Roots and every other slave movie that came out.

This still leaves the door open for a black directors to tackle the subject matter like it should be ala Nat Turner Inglourious Basterds style. I could really see a slave revenge story as a series on HBO like Boardwalk Empire or at least a mini series.

Also I've been reading the book Cloudsplitter by Russel Banks a historical fiction about the life of John Brown and I see where Tarantino got his idea/inspiration for Inglourious Basterds and Django from.
