It's not that it CAN'T be true - but why aren't people nearly AS interested in hearing about the dirt of the man who didn't win?
People will believe just about anything said about people that are rich. It's like they WANT to have dirt on them so they can feel better about not having what they have.
I'm too old to believe in this, 'I don't want to be rich' bullshit. We all would like to be rich. We may not all feel the need to use the riches the same, but we all would like to have it.
Many people feel a little better about themselves each time they hear a rumor about a wealthy person, because it allows them to feel better about not making the effort to achieve what they really want.
