The hookup is a dying artform. I remember when if you had a friend at any retail business establishment, you had a hookup.
My best hookup was in college. Me and my roommate lived off campus and were on food stamps. We knew a chic who worked at a 24/7 grocery store during the night shift. The only other people in the store was the dude buffing the floors and the security guard outside smoking. We would get buggies full of groceries (Steaks, wine, all the food we wanted) and she would slide them over the counter without swiping. She might ring up about $15 worth of stuff, which we would pay for with the EBT card. Then we would just give her $30 in cash for herself and we ate good all semester. Damn I miss that hook-up!
