I thought Marvel could've made an easter egg with falcon or atleast hint at where his wings were made

The Falcon's original wing harness featured
detachable jet-powered glider wings made of
lightweight titanium ribbing and Mylar, designed by
the Black Panther. The wings were covered with
wafer-thin solar power receptors that convert
sunlight into electricity to power miniature high-
speed electric turbine fans in his uniform and
boots. The wings detached and reattached to his
uniform cybernetically.

Apparently Marvel Wants CREED Director Ryan Coogler To Helm BLACK PANTHER

crowd-15.jpg

After Selma director Ava DuVernay passed and F. Gary Grey decided to helm the next Fast Furious movie, it seems Marvel has set their sights on Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station) to take the chair on Black Panther. Nothing official yet, but click on for what we have...

Ryan Coogler garnered great acclaim for Fruitvale Station, and by all accounts his Rocky spin-off, Creed, is something special too - so it was probably only a matter of time before one of the big superhero studios came a-callin'. According to Heroic Hollywood, that studio was Marvel, who wants Coogler to direct Chadwick Boseman in his solo Black Panther movie.

There's no indication that Coogler is interested, however, and the site cautions that they're not sure if an offer has even been made yet, but we'll keep you updated. Marvel seems to have had some trouble locking a director down for this, so there could well be interest in other parties too.

The studio recently shifted the release date of Black Panther February 16th, 2018.

It was easy to dismiss Ava as not being a good fit, but F. Gary Gray and now Ryan Coogler? Something aint right. :smh::smh:

You have to wonder how much creative control Marvel is offering these directors.

Who's left? John Singleton, Hughes Brothers, Tim Story, Rick Famuyiwa...

What if Tyler Perry gets a phone call?

Captain-America-Civil-War-Black-Panther-EW-Cover.jpg

Black Panther Is Mocked in New Entertainment Weekly Cover Amid Massive Media Blitz

Black Panther is back in the spotlight this week, with a behind-the-scenes insider look from the upcoming Marvel comic being written by journalist/author, Ta-Nehisi Coates.

Chadwick Boseman spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his upcoming role in the film version, and the magazine revealed its Marvel inspired cover with Black Panther on the cover. The cover has added controversy to a film that has already seen a few this year already, including Ava DuVernay turning down the directing gig.

“You never quite know where he stands,” Boseman says of Black Panther in the interview. “There’s always a bit of concealing and mystery. So I think mysterious is more his boat. Not to say there’s not charm and he can’t be a ladies’ man and all that. It’s more like if there is humor, it’s more like James Bond.”

Historically, Black Panther has been considered by most to be the richest comic book character in either DC Comics or Marvel, a scientific genius, an expert combatant, and a straight up bad-ass. However, on the cover of the most recent issue of EW, Black Panther is turned into an emasculated joke.

The cover further undermines T’Challa by comparing him to a Real Housewife and a meowing cat. Strangely enough, the character profile and the cover are not in sync. Many would say that it is not a big deal, but the fact that the first mainstream Black comic character is made into a laughing stock, reinforces the historical emasculation of powerful Black figures. Things like this don’t happen to Captain America or Iron Man but Black Panther is the butt of a joke.

Let’s face the facts— there are very few powerful Black characters on the silver screen and the fact that Black Panther is treated like this shows that Black power is a threatening thing.

EW can and should do better.

I assume that's the case, that they are taking black directors who would not ask for or demand more control over the story. The problem is, when it flops bacon blame the director, the cast and anybody else.

If I was going to bake a cake and you decided to not only purchase Great Value ingredients but then tell me how I can bake the cake you may as well as go ahead and bake the fucking thing yourself

Creed’s Ryan Coogler Will Direct Black Panther

19-ryan-coogler.w529.h529.jpg

That was fast: A week after Creed made him the hottest up-and-coming filmmaker in Hollywood, Variety reported that Ryan Coogler is in talks to direct Marvel's Black Panther movie. Now it's official: Accordingto Polygon, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed to Empire that Coogler would helm the film featuring a "mostly black cast." "This one is important," Feige said. "Not only do you get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore." Before Coogler's name was in the mix, Marvel was reportedly courting Selma'sAva DuVernay for the job of bringing Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa to the screen, but she declined the offer because it "wasn't going to be an Ava DuVernay film." Coogler will be only the second Marvel director not to be a white guy, after Thor: Ragnarok's Taika Waititi. Either way, it's been an impressive rise for the 29-year-old director, whose previous film, Fruitvale Station, won him the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature in 2014.

Black Panther will feature majority black cast, is crucial to Avengers: Infinity War

black-panther.0.0.jpg

Black Panther will be one of the last superheroes in the new wave of characters to get his own stand-alone film, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says he's incredibly "important" to the future of the Cinematic Universe.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Feige said that the main reason they decided to bring the story of Black Panther forward was because of how influential his character would be on the upcoming Avengers films, Infinity War — Part 1 and Infinity War — Part 2.

The executive also added that Black Panther would be the first Marvel film to feature a majority black cast. Feige touched upon bringing director Ryan Coogler (Creed) onboard and what that means for the film. He said that it was important they remained faithful to the comic and the character's origins.

"This one is important," Feige said. "Not only do you get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore."

When it came to the character's placement in the Marvel Universe, Feige wouldn't offer any more information on just how Black Panther's storyline would affect the Avengers, but did provide a more in-depth look at what the character's solo movie will include.

"The movie is a big geopolitical action adventure that focuses on the family and royal struggle of T'Challa in Wakanda and what it means to be a king," Feige said.

Again, while Feige wouldn't say how Black Panther's storyline would be included in the Avengers films, having Wakanda as a new setting for the heroes to explore is interesting.Black Panther is the last film part of Marvel's Phase Three before Infinity War, which means that all of the Infinity Stones have to be found before the film is released.

Could the final Infinity Stone be found on the ancient planet where Black Panther reigns as king? It's definitely a possibility.

Black Panther's release date has been pushed back multiple times, and the film has suffered through casting changes and directors dropping out. Now, the film is scheduled to be released on Feb. 16, 2018, but it was originally supposed to be released in November 2017. The Avengers: Infinity War — Part 1 will hit theaters three months later on May 4, 2018.

RYAN COOGLER TO DIRECT MARVEL'S 'BLACK PANTHER'

It’s official, Marvelites: Ryan Coogler will step up to direct Marvel’s “Black Panther,” in theaters February 16, 2018!

Chadwick Boseman will star in “Black Panther” after debuting as the character in the upcoming Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” in theaters May 6.

“We are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family,” said producer Kevin Feige. “The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct ‘Black Panther.’ Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to life.”

Coogler wrote and directed his first award-winning feature film, “Fruitvale Station,” in 2013. Most recently he directed the critically-acclaimed “Creed,” which earned Sylvester Stallone a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture.

Black Panther has been an important character in the Marvel universe for 50 years. He is the king of the technologically-advanced nation of Wakanda, and Panther has served as a member of the Avengers in addition to his many solo adventures.

Coogler is represented by WME and Cohen Gardner LLP.

I never cared if a black director was on the movie. I just wanted a good director who knows the character. And doesn't do the thing where they don't care about the character but "i just wanted to direct blah blah blah". But now i think about it i don't think Marvel will let him fuck this up. I hope. I still don't think they'll give this as big a budget as Thor.
