Joyce Bertram The statue shown at the end of the video is in front of a monumental park in Brussels. Within the park are more monuments that refer to slavery and the colonisation of Africa. At some point certain words were simply removed from a few monuments, to mask the glorification of slavery.
I feel it is important to keep these remnants so history doesn't fade and lessons will be tranferred from one generation onto another. But that does mean the stories need to be told.
