Wow, this is bullshit. We all know Shane has nothing left. Gassed in the fourth round against pbf proved that. Shane needs a win before he expects people to pay and see him fight. Terrible fight.

I don't care if Shane is past his prime or not. If he loses to Mora... he might as well kill himself cause there is no way he should take an L.

This being on PPV is ridiculous. Especially with the fact that a potential classic in Juanma/Marquez is on Showtime the same day for FREE.

What the hell is the selling point? HBO has been making some questionable ppv decisions lately. They must have contractual obligations with the ppv providers but even with that, they could offer better fights.

Two old guys who both lost to Vernon Forrest?:dunno:

A guy who never sold one ppv while he was alive. Can Dana White take over boxing too? Or make a boxing promotion to show these carnies running boxing how to do it? Dana's an ass and has a "massa" complex buthe could teach the current boxing kings how to put together cards and shows.

I watched Shane fight on an ESPN backed ppv for 29.95 (Raul Marquez, I think) and that was too much and would be a ripoff for this one.

Wow, ESPN PPV! I remember that fight. That was back when I'd gotten a cable tester off a dude in place of payment for a debt, that shit ended up being worth 20 times what the debt was between fights and PPV movies and porn. But I can't even say "those were the good 'ole days", we got the internet now.:D

Yeah, and Shane might lose this one too. Outside of the Margarito fight, Mosley had been looking old in the ring for a while.

I just read Shane made a dumb asses statement, saying Berto had to beat Cotto 'then' he would think about fighting him?!?! As much as I respect Shane...who the hell does he think he is? Wants Dude to prove himself again a guy he lost to, plus he just got his ass whipped?!

HBO definitely needs to cut it out with these BS PPV's! Who the hell in their right mind would drop cheese on this shit? Even if this was on regular HBO I wouldn't go out of my way to watch this shit! The fight this weekend wasn't PPV worthy either! WTF?

What???? C'mon son. Shane doesn't have the time to be waiting for niggas and he doesn't have the pull to have another fight jump through hoops. He and Berto need this fight considering how thin welterweight is and it's the only other marketable welterweight fight.

I personally like the match up, regardless of where either fighter ranks at this point of their career. I do hope calls it a night after this one, especially if he takes an L.

That's a good point and I don't think we're giving the actual fight it's proper due. It's HBO asking us for money for it that's irritating.
If he loses, I can't see Shane continuing. There's no shame to losing to Mayweather but then to lose his third in four fights is a bad sign.

Shane Mosley: If Berto Beats Miguel Cotto, We Can Talk

Posted by: Lem Satterfield on 08-03-2010.

By Lem Satterfield

Before a fight with Sergio Mora was locked and sealed for September 18, former three division champion Shane Mosley was trying to make a fight with WBC welterweight king Andre Berto. When the two fighters were set to meet in January, they agreed on a 60-40 split in Mosley's favor. Berto withdrew from the fight to support his family members who were affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

Mosley would quickly reach an agreement to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May, while Berto fought Carlos Quintana in April. Mosley was dominated by Mayweather for twelve rounds, and Berto dominated Quintana on route to knocking him out.

When Berto and Mosley came back to the table a few weeks ago, Berto made a demand for an even 50-50 split on the money. Mosley saw no reason to move away from their previous agreement of a 60-40 split, even with the recent loss to Mayweather.

"At first, it was 60-40 when we were supposed to fight on January 30 before I lost to Floyd Mayweather. Sergio Martinez was ready to do a 60-40 split with me at middleweight. And then, this guy Berto, you know, I'm doing him a favor by even fighting him. And to agree to fight him, I was doing him a favor. I mean, it was going to be in Atlantic City, and then we were going to fight on regular HBO. I mean, come on," Mosley said.

"It was kind of ridiculous. I was like, I can fight Sergio Mora and fill the Staples Center up on Mexican Independence Day. I'm bringing [Berto] the crowd, and then we've got to go to Atlantic City or Florida to fight you there? It's all on your terms? I mean, come on. Why am I doing this for a 50-50 split? I mean, why are we even talking about this? Why are you even negotiating with me like this like you're on my level? Come on."

With Manny Pacquiao heading in the direction of a fight with Antonio Margarito, Berto is a possible candidate to fight WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto. If Mosley beats Mora, he has a lot of options in front of him. He might consider negotiating again with Berto, if Berto secures the fight with Cotto and finishes off the Puerto Rican star.

"Now you have to fight Miguel Cotto and that's going to be a very tough fight because Cotto has been fighting and you haven't. Cotto's a great fighter. You're good too, but Cotto has been working out. Cotto's been fighting and he's been training. Cotto has been fighting at 154. So if your next fight is against Cotto, then you're going to have some problems. You go ahead and fight Cotto, and then, maybe we can talk if you beat him," Mosley said.

This nigga must be punch drunk, delusional or insane. Shitting on Berto than fight Mora???????????????

I understand Shane feeling fucked up about having shit dictated to him but what world is Shane living in? Shane had his ass handed to him. Your stock goes down dramatically when you lose like that. He's almost lucky Berto didn't shit on him like "I need that 60 split".

Plus who gives a fuck if you get 50 on Berto... it isn't like it was going to be big money anyway. Think about if he beats Berto than cats like Pac, Sergio Martinez and P Will start looking at Shane again as oppose to Shane beating Mora, cause that's what Shane is supposed to do. If you lose to Berto.... He's a strong young nigga and you could still get people to give you a pass then fight Mora.... If you lose to Mora, its over.

On another note if Berto/Cotto signs. What happens to Pac's fight schedule if Berto wins? I at least know that Berto won't be thinking about Shane anymore.

:smh:I read this shit yesterday and was like :smh: anyway, it looks like Cotto/Chavez and Donaire/Montiel is starting to shape up as a double feature, probably on HBO. I hope. Did ya'll read the article concerning Floyd and Don King possibly doing business.

yeah I read the Don King shit. King is like Michael Corleone... just when you think he's out, they bring him back in.

I don't know what King can do, but I guess it won't hurt until there's a payday.

So is this fight ass because it is pay per view? Or is it ass because pbf exposed Shane as an old fighter that was winded by the 4th round?

Strangely enough, I see shane losing this fight. On thing he showed me in the mayweather fight is he has slowed and while he's not fighting a mayweather caliber fighter, mora is no push over. I seriously see shane getting out boxed. Also, its funny to see him now trying to strong arm younger fighters in the same way he bitched about earlier in his career. Somebody should let him know he was never a major draw and a good ass whipping like the one he just took does have an effect on your public profile. He can ride that margarito win but so far and floyd took a lot of the luster....

On a side note it seems like alexander and bradley are close to signing for a jan 2011 fight. Maybe these old assed dudes should consider falling back and letting the youngsters do their thing. I'm at a point I don't give a damn who shane, bhop, toney, none of those dudes are fighting anymore (even though I am interested in seeing toney get his ass whipped come the 28th). Now if khan would sign to fight maidana, that would be a dream double dip!

Mora is a C level fighter and I can't except Shane losing. I don't know about Shane's technique or stamina holding up against his age based on the Floyd fight because losing badly to a great fighter is the same as looking great against a bad fighter.... Even with that said, he is still fast and strong even if its only for half the fight. If Shane can't handle Mora it is time to retire, but I'm pissed because Mora doesn't deserve that boost especially not on the PPV stage. It should be Berto IMO.

co sign the second paragraph.

Interesting how people are now saying Shane is old and shot when you are talking about high level fights now. Yet somehow when pbf fought him he was not old. How do you go from headlining against a p4p best and somehow not be worthy to headline a ppv? This fights funny cause dude's career as a high level fighter is over. This fights sucks because a great fighter has not realized he has been exposed as not being who he once was.

It's funny when you and everybody else was demanding that Floyd fight Shane Mosley instead of Pac, I was the only one pointing out that he was old. I said it first and everyone thought I was crazy... Don't you remember back when you complained that Floyd wasn't fighting any real welters weights. Niggas was all hyped that Shane beat Margarito's ass, but I said if Floyd beats Shane convincingly everybody would jump on the "Shane's old bandwagon".... welcome aboard:lol::lol::lol::lol:.

Then in the months before the fight... I was the main one pointing out that Shane lost a step and that he beat Margarito cause Margarito is ass, but niggas wanted to hold on to hype about Margarito being one of the most dangerous fighters....:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I never demanded pbf to fight Shane. I always wanted to see PBF to move up in weight. I want manny and Shane to fight though.
