I still think the movie.... was Not Horrible but when you sit down and read the major things that happened.... the shit does sound silly as fuck.

Justice League: What Was Steppenwolf’s Plan?

In Justice League, the team unites to stop Steppenwolf – but what exactly was is his plan and what were the Mother Boxes actually doing?

The World’s Greatest Superheroes didn’t join forces for no reason; Justice League had to provide a suitable challenge that would create a need for Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and finally Superman (Henry Cavill) himself to come together. That great enemy, as foretold by Bruce Wayne’s Knightmare and the ravings of Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, is the invading army from the planet Apokolips, led by a being known as the End of Worlds, Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds).

STEPPENWOLF’S ORIGINAL INVASION
It turns out Steppenwolf, the giant axe-swinging general of Darkseid, the dark god of Apokolips, is no stranger to Earth. Not only has he been to our planet before, he tried to invade it and failed. Five thousand years ago, Steppenwolf traveled to Earth via Boom Tube, a portal that allows for interstellar and inter-dimensional travel. He brought with him legions of Parademons – the flying, insect-like shock troops of Apokolips that feed on the fear of their victims. Steppenwolf even transformed humans into Parademons to serve his needs.

Most importantly, Steppenwolf had with him three Mother Boxes; advanced technology used by his race of ancient powerful beings called the New Gods. When merged together in a process called ‘the Unity’, the Mother Boxes have the power to terraform entire planets. Steppenwolf prays to the power of the Mother Boxes, with the goal of conquering Earth and transforming it into a planet identical to the fiery hellscape of Apokolips.

However, Earth also had defenders five thousand years ago. An alliance rose up to fight Steppenwolf. The Amazons, led by Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) and their greatest general Antiope (Robin Wright), the Atlanteans, the tribes of Man, the Greek gods led by Zeus, and even the Green Lantern assigned to protect Earth’s space sector 2814 met Steppenwolf and Apokolips in the field of battle. Many died, including the Lantern, but the defenders of Earth won and beat back Steppenwolf’s forces, banishing him and his Parademons.

The three Mother Boxes were left behind. Knowing they had to be separated so that the Unity could be prevented, the Mother Boxes were divided among the Amazons, the Atlanteans, and the tribes of Man. The Amazons kept their Mother Box on their hidden island of Themyscira. The Atlanteans brought theirs to Atlantis, deep in the ocean’s depths. The Men buried theirs, hoping it would never be discovered and used. While the first two Mother Boxes remained safely contained in their secret locations over the Millennia, the third was unearthed by the British during World War I. By 2016, it was in the possession of Dr. Silas Stone (Joe Morton) at STAR Labs. As we saw in Batman V Superman, the Mother Box came alive and grafted itself onto the dying body of Silas’ son Victor, turning him into Cyborg.

STEPPENWOLF’S PLAN IN 2017
By 2017, Parademons had begun breaching the dimensional barrier and arriving on Earth to gather intel on the whereabouts of the Mother Boxes. When Superman died at the end of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Mother Boxes began to awaken from 5,000 years of dormancy because Superman being gone destabilized the harmony of the world and left it without a protector. Batman encountered a Parademon scout in Gotham City, which eventually exploded into green goo after a brief battle. This was the sign Batman needed that his Knightmare was about to come true and the invasion he feared was imminent. He contacted Wonder Woman and together they began recruiting the heroes who would form the Justice League.

Meanwhile, the awakened Mother Boxes called Steppenwolf back to Earth to collect the Mother Boxes and complete the conquest he began five millennia ago. His first stop was Themyscira, where he and his Parademons attacked the Amazons and acquired the first Mother Box. Steppenwolf next struck in Atlantis, taking their box despite the efforts of Aquaman and Mera (Amber Heard). The Parademons then invaded the Russian town which had an abandoned nuclear reactor. This would become Steppenwolf’s base of operations for when he would attempt the Unity. The third Mother Box was harder to locate; the Parademons kidnapped nearly a dozen STAR Labs scientists for Steppenwolf to interrogate. One of the scientists was Dr. Silas Stone, which drew Cyborg and the newly-formed Justice League into direct conflict with Steppenwolf. Only Cyborg knew the last Mother Box’s secret location because he had hidden it himself.

Cyborg secured the Mother Box and brought it to the League, where Batman revealed he planned to use it to bring the dead Superman back to life. After exhuming Superman’s body and bringing it to the Kryptonian ship, the Flash used his speed to create lightning, which combined with the Mother Box’s power, would supercharge Superman and revive him. It worked and Superman was reborn, but while the League tried to subdue the confused Man of Steel, Steppenwolf Boom Tubed into Metropolis and stole his final piece of the puzzle.

The Justice League tracked Steppenwolf to his base in Russia and attacked the Apokoliptians. With Superman joining the battle at last, the Justice League were able to save the people of the town and also defeat Steppenwolf. Cyborg and Superman together broke the Mother Boxes apart, ending the Unity. Meanwhile, Steppenwolf experienced fear for the first time when Superman’s sheer power overwhelmed him and his battleaxe was destroyed. Their hunger ignited by the fear emanating from Steppenwolf, the Parademons turned on their general. As Steppenwolf fought off his own legions, they Boom Tubed away from Earth. The Justice League foiled Steppenwolf’s second – and hopefully last – invasion of Earth.

Whether Steppenwolf ever returns – or worse, Darkseid himself comes to Earth to avenge his lieutenant’s failure – is a question that may be answered in a future Justice League movie

The key piece that you and many people seem to be missing in this movie is that Steppenwolf was banished from Apokolips because of his initial failure on earth. He said as much in the film. He's spent five thousand years at bay waiting for both the opportunity and the location of Mother, so he can finally conquer earth, and be welcomed back to Apokolips and Darkseid's good graces. That was his motivation in the movie. By the end it looks as though he's been boom tubed back to Apokolips anyway, probably for punishment; but also as a literary means of bringing Darkseid into future JL movies.
This was a solid movie. If the uncut version of this, does for it what the uncut version of BvS did for that movie, then it is a great movie.

(Not directed at Fonz, just generally speaking) I swear people are such bandwagon riders. It's chic to hate on all things DCEU now, so that's what people do, with zero objectivity and even less common sense. DCEU is not Marvel, and frankly at this point, they shouldn't be trying to be. Their formula is the opposite of Marvel's. Marvel built their characters individually en route to the team up. DCEU assembled the team first and attempted to show how they are each at relatively unfinished points in their individual archs, that will be fleshed out in their solo movies.

We can argue about the merits of either approach all day long, but the fact is that they are completely different approaches. Marvel has "perfected" their formula for the most part. DCEU has had a bumpier road thus far, but their vision is still intact and moving forward. I for one, am glad that I live in a time where comic and superheroes rule the cinema. I will continue to enjoy it for as long as it lasts.

Please tell me WHERE he said this in the movie....

Dude literally said maybe 30 words totals.

Why would he need to wait 5000 years for the time and location of Mother..... When the Alantians and Amazons held two of the cubes in the same spot for 5000 years. How is it able to boom tube to their exact location, but dude couldn't boom tube to the cube that was literally bared in a hole for over a couple thousand years.

And I also dont under why the cubes activated when Clark died ....... but weren't activated during any other time where the world lost hope... like WWI or WW2.

Also.... what was the point of the "I smell fear bit"... Do parademons come after people who are afraid? Are they the boogieman?

And again..... I don't hate the movie, but I'm not going to gloss over Holes and add in shit because I like DC.

DC has to step it the fuck up. It's tough love time. This shit has to stop being inferior to DC Animated Movies.

It's at $225M and should be around $250M by the end of this weekend.

Yeah it’s gokng to hit 300 domestic easily...

But on the real.. Domestic box doesn’t mean what it use to. It’s the international numbers. Justice league is really hoping that it has strong international numbers.

Ok I saw the movie today, it was pretty good. It's not better than either of the 2 Avengers films. I'm already tired of Wonder Woman. They are trying to make her the center piece now. I would have liked for the flashback scene to have been longer, especially when Steppenwolf was fighting Zeus and some of the old Gods. I liked this overpowered Superman and him fight against the Justice League was good. I didn't have a problem with the rest of the characters. The story was a little rushed. I would have liked to have seen Darkseid's Omega Beams hit Steppenwolf in front of the League and that would have freaked them out.

The chase scene with the Motherbox and Amazon's? That was fire. The original fight scene with Steppenwolf, featuring The Gods, Atlantians and the Green Lanterns? Fire again.

Zack Snyder's work was fire. It was Joss Whedon, with those awful jokes that brought it down

Those fights were all cgi and like 2 minutes each. Superman whoops Wolfman the leaves with the flash to rescue people.

This shit was all over the place. Power levels and powers shifting like crazy, and quicksilver from X-Men has made all other speedsters look like ass.

Hate to say it but Thor was better. Wonder Woman was better too. DC needs to get their shit right. Plot wise this was barely better than Iron Fist and BVS had better fights.

Also, I guess Clark's chest wound healed when he was dead? What about the floating gravel at the end of BVS?

The entire EDCU is a fucking mess. Legion of Doom? No Darkseid? Their world is built hella flimsy.

I saw it today and it was a solid 6/10. The problem with all these D.C. Movies is they have no idea how to build on the movie and build anticipation for next movie. They just announced the Shazam actors and we know the Rock is gonna be Black Adam they could have incorporated a scene at the end with Rock watching a tv and seeing news footage of Justice League and then he glances down at a letter from Lex inviting him to meet up with him, then camera pans up from letter and he says something like finally and then he pauses, looks at camera and says SHAZAM and begins to levitate away. Now tell me that scene would not have made anticipation over the top for next D.C. Movie. They just don't have a clue how to do this thing. Thor was a good movie but what people r talking about is the credits scene which shows Thanos big ass spaceship. That's how u build anticipation not some stupid as race between Flash/Superman.

Did Ben Affleck just not work out for the fucking movie? Was it just me or was he wearing a girdle which wasn't doing much to hide his belly (his vest was desperately trying to cover that shit up)

I give it a solid 6, but they copied how Spiderman was acting in Civil War With The Flash. Very unoriginal DC.

The race between the Flash and Superman? Come on

Oh, and moviepass again Saved the Day. Me and my date and my movie pass cost me $4.75

The weekend estimate could now be as low as $93 million! This was projected to open around $150-160 million a few months ago. :smh::smh:

the Rock WILL NOT be in Shazam - that might change but probably not because
Rock already has a full schedule

DC contracted him for a stand alone Black Adam movie - and just threw together Shazam

Affleck is too old for this role right now, the way Batman was out of breath when he caught up to them fighting Superman. They need to kill off Batman and bring in Nightwing or let him control missions like Overwatch.

The Atlantians were beat too easy. Steppenwolf did it on his own.

Someone mentioned the parademons and fear. At the beginning when Batman held the guy over the edge of roof. He mentioned fear and said that's what I need and the parademon came out of nowhere and Batman captured it before it disintegrated.

It's cool but empty. You see green lantern do cool shit for like 2 seconds, he gets killed and the ring flies off. Maybe Shazams wizard and Zeus do some shit, but Zeus alone should be able to take them out. It's fun, but compared to the action in say the new Thor, well.

It really reminds me of the fights in the 2nd Thor. Cool images but really empty. Malekith and Steppenwolf are both the same, just empty villains.

Movie was ok.
Better than BvS,Suicide Squad, and wonder woman.
Affleck looks like Fatman.
He sucks as batman imo
Cyborg was blah and his robot parts looked like Megatron.
Flash I thought was ok. He had personality.
WW also ok.
Superman had some bad lines in this.
Aquaman was unnecessary and did nothing.
Steppenwolf's face looks exactly like Snoke from the new Star Wars except with bad cg mouth moving didn't really match his words.
You never really felt the stakes and there was no build up with these characters so it was just ok. On par with the old x-men movies.

IMO perfect follow up to JL would be to do a kingdom come adaption!

Perfect finish for Afflecks old man batman.
