As someone who works in the mental health field for over 10 years, I can tell you with all certainty this is nothing but game she's running.
1st off if her mental health was so severe as she claims it is, no psych hospital/facility would discharge her regardless of what her insurance says. Every major city has a public psychiatric facility that will house whomever for whatever period of time. The facility that closed down would have referred her out along with all the other patients to another inpatient facility.
Her insurance is likely not paying anymore because because they deemed that she's mentally capable of leaving intensive treatment. She was probably referred to an outpatient clinic.
When patients run this game, it's usually because their housing issue is fucked up amongst other things. She's needing that bread to get back on her feet, plain and simple.

Intensive treatment centers don't allow you to have your cell phone so she's full of shit and is not in any intensive treatment.
Another thing... I have very a high suspicion this is drug treatment that she's seeking even though she claims it's not. Most psych facilities will not hold someone for 30+ days for her symptoms..
She probably wants to go to some upscale drug treatment facility where celebrities & rich people go to get luxury treatment. Her insurance definitely won't cover that and probably only gave her a choice to go to a more strict facility that services the regular public.

Mental illness is no joke but the bottom line is - if you're in that bad a shape and want help - you don't need money. If you're trying to Cadillac that's when you need dough. If you're trying to get better you take whatever is offered and there are plenty of facilities.
