game 3 first half

w/o chucker antoine walker on the floor, the miami heat would've won Q1 by 15-20 points. he disgusts me.

dwyane wade showed his playoff inexperience and immaturity. not only did he allow jerry stackhouse to dunk on the break uncontested, but he allowed devin harris to penetrate for a layup. in both cases he should've put the mavericks player on the wood.

just like antoine walker needed to learn what the meaning of "re-post" was, jason williams needs to learn the meaning of "ball reversal".

if the pot smoker JW knew what "ball reversal" meant, the heat would've been up by 20 points by now.

game 3 second half

game ball to udonis haslem... he earned his paycheck with rebounding in the second half. not to mention a hustle play on the steal and 2 FTs...

dwyane wade had a good scoring stretch in the last 6 minutes also... dallas forgot to hack him and put him on the line...

anyone notice that miami made their come from behind Q4 run with AW on the bench? no coincidence i'm sure...

who's gonna give shaquille o'neal some love for making his FTs tonight?

i'm glad that GP made the clutch (and only) go ahead FG with 9 seconds to play... he earned his place on this contender...

anyone else disappointed by alonzo mourning's play so far? i thought he'd be playing like a man possessed in these finals... so far he just looks confused...

go heat. tie this mother up in G4.

Re: game 3 second half

"Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki, who led the Mavericks with 30 points, had a chance to tie the game with 3.4 seconds left but could hit only one of two free throws. "

Will this be a sign of things to come? I'm sure somewhere in a hotel or on a plane right now, Miami is hoping so.

I knew Miami would win this game.

They have been playing like this all season, coming from behind late in the 4th.

AW is trying to prove something to his old team. Riles cannot mess his head up by benching him, so he lets him start and then gives Posey minutes.

Riles still needs to go deeper in the bench. Doleac, the two Andersons, and Simien should get a few. Once Miami gets a good lead in the 3rd qt that will be an option.

Dallas has my respect at this point. As I predicted, Miami have basically taken Dirk and Howard out of the game. Dirk is getting his points from the free throw line. It looks like that U...D is very effective.

I also thought Avery Johnsons post game comments were accurate: "Give the Heat some credit". That is the right mind set for a coach to have reguarding their opponents. That allows them to realize that they will have to take it to another level.

The Heat got blown out by Dallas twice this year. Miami just had to beat them once to change their reality. Now they don't think they can win, they KNOW they can win.

It will be interesting to see how Dirk comes back from this anti-clutch performance.

By your logic....Wade wouldnt have been around for the comeback, he had too many fouls to take those. Toine was one of the catalyst early in the game, the heat are too lethargic and are gonna fuck around and lose unless they find an answer for Dallas speed. Cause it takes Miami like half a quarter to build a double digit lead that Dallas just kills in like 3 minutes.

no, by my logic, dwyane wade would have had at least 2 PFs. intentional ones. i wouldn't have asked him to pick up the other 3...

antoine walker was a catalyst. unfortunately, he was a catalyst for the opposing team. you're only watching the O side of the ball. the INCREDIBLY tiny amount of good AW achieved for the heat was FAR FAR FAR outweighed by the tremendous amount of BAD he achieved for the heat.

review the game (especially Q1) and you will see that most of the (EDIT) mavericks' scoring was done at AW's expense.

again, it was NO coincidence that the heat mounted the 18-4 run in Q4 with AW on the bench.

i think dallas has a few players whose athleticism present a problem (devin harris, josh howard, jerry stackhouse), but i feel the quickness issue has been overstated.

IMO, AW's extremely poor shot selection and HORRIFIC D is a bigger issue. coupled with pot smoker JW's confusing lack of decent PG play (reverse the ball and find shaquille o'neal with his defender on his back, bitch!), and alonzo mourning's lack of intensity and productivity the heat have plenty to overcome internally.

coach johnson's D strategy also is responsible for some of the problems too. notice that the miami heat usually aren't able to START their O until the 14 second mark? that leaves less time to reset and find the open man, which means JW chucking up the hot potato.

anybody notice the BEAUTIFUL ploy the miami heat used on D for the first time last night? dallas tried to run screen roll on shaquille o'neal, forcing him to switch onto a smaller and faster player (usually jason terry), but every time they tried it, miami recognized the set and PRE-ROTATED a 3rd defender (usually udonis haslem) to hedge the screen roll, allowing shaquille o'neal to stay in the paint.

Of course we didn't notice

Thats why we have Cranalysis

Now Coach, how do we stop that Terry screen and roll that resulted in 8 points late in the fourth?

What do we do about Walker? How do we get him under control? Start Posey?

did you see the thread where i say i like udonis haslem for his rebounding and hustle/effort plays, but noted that he is TERRIBLE at hedging/showing on the screen roll?

if you did, then you understand exactly why the mavericks are successful on that play. on screen roll plays, udonis haslem does a "token" show. that is, he places his feet and body where they are supposed to be, but does not play D on the ball. once the opposing guard recognizes this fault, they understand that they can continue dribbling around udonis haslem unimpeded to their spot. unfortunately for the heat, this also means that the PG (pot smoker JW) has NO chance to recover and pick up terry before he can launch the 15 footer.

to make things worse, dallas is executing the screen roll on the right side of the floor, releasing jason terry to his right. which happens to also be his STRONG side.

EDIT: BTW, the jason terry only scored 2 FGs for 4 points in Q4 off that screen roll. the mavericks ran that play several times, and got some great looks from it, but jason terry was only able to convert those looks twice.

trade him during the summer to the fakers. AW is a defensive liability playing man-to-man and zone. UNBELIEVABLE.

nice idea, but problematic. if you start james posey, who is going to guard dirk nowitzki when udonis haslem leaves the floor? certainly not AW, who would get torched from the perimeter.
