u can make it from scratch with all the buttermilk...vinegar and stuff

or

you can do a shortcut...ive made it and people swear its homemade

box of german chocolate cake mix
8oz sour cream
however many eggs it calls for on the box
however much oil (or use butter) it calls for on the bo
however much eggs it calls for on the box (i always add one more)
1 sm box of vanilla pudding mix (instant)
1 bottle of red food coloring
(i add a few handfuls of mini chocolate chips too)

mix together and bake at 350...i like to top with a white chocolate cream cheese icing...tastes just as good as u would get from any bakery

ive made these with a "special" ingredient (infused canibus oil)...and i doubled it by adding a box of brownie mix and extra oil...tastes AMAZING :)

Yeah, Costco is the next best thing to my cousin's who only makes it for very special occasions. She puts frozen blueberries in the mix.

Cakeman has been closed most of the summer but it's open now. I was there on tues & chopped it up with Raven. He said that the new people he hired was messing up the cake so he had to shut down the shop to show them how to make it right. The turnover rate for the bakers is high. He was pissed that he had to shut down but he didn't want to put out half ass product. I respect!

Also one of his former employees opened up a cake shop in bed-stuy. It taste just like cake man but it's not as moist. Also its $5.

u really dont see german chocolate at bakeries

german chocolate from scratch is labor intensive...maybe thats why

but most bakeries use a cakemix as a base (i was heart broken when i learned this)...so with that being said...i dont know what their excuse is
