We are still using the same engines to run fossil fuels since the 1940's and we still allowing for a monopoly of energy companies to bill us every month instead of using other green energy.

They were supposed to be a part of everyday life. NOT at some amusement park or airport.

That's one of those "this is a great idea" in theory kind of things. You know they would have to be powered, right? Who's going to pay for that? Citizens. Who's going to go for a sidewalk tax? Amusement parks are the best place for those ideas.
