You think Meek Millz is winning

This was pre Ross, this was when he had y tthat one joint that everybody jumped on and got him that ill buzz

I think Jim Jones gave him some vet advice.

That nigga is not going no where in the rap game. Talks to much and don't listen. Jim says something and Meek says something to combat it. If he was smart we would join up with jim and get some off camera advice.

Yeah this was back in the Rose Red days

First thing Ross did was have the young bol cut his braids

I wonder how good of a deal he signed.

The last nigga I want advice from is Jim Jones

Yeah, who wants advice from someone who's been involved in rap at every level for the past 15 years, from being on a major, being indie, video director, record label owner, record label exec....yeah shouldn't listen to him at all

I dont know if Meek Millz will ever drop a album better than these two

its good to hear shit like that from characters like Jim and Maino... that is the stuff you don't see everyday.. these guys are businessmen... not as corporate as what you would think, but they have to know their craft to get where they are in this industry. Meek is lucky he hopped on twitter and got Ross' attention.

Yea, you just got ex'ed off my "discuss music with" list. You're fucking buggin.

Jones has one hot single in his entire catalog against a bunch of decent to very good tracks. I can hit youtube and find a handful of Meek vids/freestyles that absolutely shit on Jim Jones entire career.

Nigga go to sleep.

You're talkin about a guy that sold his soul for fuckin reality tv, since he knows his music sucks. He's had 2 decent songs, and everybody in Dipset runs circles around Jimmy. Hey if Meek wants to be like him, sure take his advice

He met him through Cosmic Kev, because he was the hottest in philly and people kept telling him about Meek. Meek came up to the radio station.

I rarely "discuss music" I just state my opinion on whatever, whether its popular or not here you should know that by now

I said album not videos and freestyles

Selective reading ass nigga :hmm:

Jimmy was speaking truth to the lil ninja......some ninjas you just can't tell them shit

Samsung Epic

Jim makes a valid point... BUT I think his San Quinn reference was a little off... The reason I say that is because the BAY is a different market... Different than ANY MARKET in the country... Although not a lot of artists get national recognition... The BAY rap scene sustains itself LIKE NO OTHER MARKET... Look at Mac Dre... Mob Figgas... Messy Marv... These dudes have been around for a minute and they built followings in and around the bay( and KANSAS CITY) that can sustain themselves...

That being said... Philly is NOT like that... NEW YORK... is NOT LIKE THAT... and when you look at Meek Millz now... Jimmy WAS RIGHT... Meek got a STRONG PUSH behind him now... Hopefully, he'll keep it going... Because he REALLY started from the ground up...

As far as the Bay goes... Their whole 'GET DOWN' out there is VERY interesting... Because like Jim said...'There's dudes that have been rocking out there for a minute... Getting NICE money that us East coast dudes have NEVER heard of... San Quinn is a San Francisco/FILLMORE Legend almost... Mac Dre(R.I.P.) is DAMN NEAR BIGGER THAN TUPAC in the Bay and had been putting music since the late 80s until his untimely death... The NEW dudes are these cats called LIVEWIRE Records... J-Stalin, Shady Nate, Philthy Rich, Stevie Joe, Jay Jonah and Lil Blood( and he's NOT a blood either)... They have a chance to make NATIONAL NOISE... BUT... If they don't... They STILL have the BAY to fall back on...

i mean he was telling him the truth
but damn meek millz everything gotta have a drug references really
You just your own queston with your post after ^
He's a cool kid, he did business with my boy(mix cds). Philly has a healthy underground rap scene. He's been the "lil wayne" of Philly going on 4 years now

Let c/s Vandam, Oakland is unique for sho(shit amazes me everytime) from 2short to Mc hammer to e40 to the late Mac Dre to the Luniz to lil-b to that crazy dance, plus ghost riding whips...etc
Oakland cats do there own shit

:smh: Maybe he should listen to BGLR1212000 instead :smh:
Meek should've said thanks and left it at that

The funniest part is Maino at the end looking like "this nigga here"

Maino and Cassidy are the last ones that need to be on stage with some young bul and his drug references.

Jim Jones could have schooled Meek even further just by mentioning fizzled out nice Philly MCs like Reignman, Reed Dollaz, Joey Jihad, Headshot and the entire Touchmoney crew. Meek is a long way from those street corner battles and getting run/rhymed out of Naam and OGs spot.

:yes::yes::yes:
Philly has a BOATLOAD of MCs... BUT Philly as a marketplace... :smh: It's not like the Bay or Houston...
:smh:

Yeah this was back in the Rose Red days

I wonder how good of a deal he signed.

It's still a major, it's just an imprint

even though its just an imprint mmg is probably still getting a cut as if it wasn't plus Warner Brothers. I think Roc Nation still manages him, not sure. Just from knowing the industry i'd have to think he has a shitty contract. meek was hot in philly but being hot in Philly isn't like being hot in Atlanta, you catch an audience out here and they support you and you can make more money plus your assumed to have more universal appeal. Based on that and the fact looking at meek braids or no braids dude doesn't have an appeal that's gonna capture ngz and women in NY, LA, ATL, overseas. He doesn't have the image, he doesn't stand out like a star. If he signed to a major and didn't have Ross behind him he'd be another nga with a familiar name but nobody really knows his shyt. Like all these internet stars on worldstar. :smh: Meek started getting in trouble, nowadays that reduces how much labels give you because they don't know if your gonna be free to promote albums and make their money back. Album sales suck, so I doubt meek got any kind of decent deal, plus his Boss can't even go platinum so you really think he got any kind of decent contract? Meek doesn't sound like a smart dude or a business head in none of his interviews so i'd doubt he has any kind of decent contract. Everything is good right now because he's rolling with one of the hottest rappers.

But, I say it again WTF has Ross done? He's the Rex Ryan (NY JETS) of this rap shyt, he talks like he's one of the smartest ngz in the game, like he's one of the richest in the game but he still doesn't have a platinum album (in Rex Ryan's case he still hasn't won a superbowl), slip and slide still gets a cut off his albums, Def Jam has spent millions on his last 2 albums and his sales haven't given them justice. That is a fact, they spent so much promoting, getting him top shelf rap and r&b guest, paid heavy on samples and producers but he still hasn't got over the hump. He's made good music but this super star they've tried to make him hasn't arrived. Puff probably made more off Ross than Ross made last year. MMG artist including Ross have to tour year around to make a mil, that's not including all the people they have to pay and the lifestyle they have to keep up with.

To answer the thread title, Meek is winning because he's in some sort of spotlight around one the games hottest stars but 2 years from now i don't see him being relevant at all. Dude can flow but me and many others can't take all the yelling, tell you the truth i'd rather hear Ross flow solo on most of meek and wale's beats.

i mean he was telling him the truth

but damn meek millz everything gotta have a drug references really

u know ngz have to prove their "real ngz" i'm happy mmg cleaned this nga up, i met him a while back when he was fkn with Grand Hustle, this was one dirty lookn nga, looked like he had just got off a construction job, i didn't even believe he was with Jason Geter. I thought he was one of the many ngz saying they down, saying they signed but really weren't.
