When it comes to internet message boards, BGOL ranks among the toughest, most prison like, boards on the net. If you've been an active BGOL member a decade, or longer, you have enemies. You're not a BGOL veteran if you don't.
If you're truly active then you post more than just porn: you express your unpopular opinions on a wide array of topics. It's impossible to express your honest, yet unpopular, opinion, here, without crossing another member. Inevitably, over time, you'll cross a member who disrespects you, and incites you to respond. Just like prison, if you don't respond then he'll incite others to view you as weak-- a beef is born.
By internet beef I don't mean months after you've argued you're actively trying kill someone (although it could come to that). Rather, I mean you've disagree with someone so much that you don't want to interact with them further. It's too easy to have beef, and hate for, someone you know only online.
That's why you're not truly a BGOL vet if you don't have enemies here. If you've been here a decade, or longer, and don't have beef with another active BGOL veteran you're a lurker. Moreover, if you don't have active veterans on your ignore list you're likely not active, and a non-vet.
