No it won't. Just because they bring out a new card doesn't mean you have to buy it. Most of the time if you buy the latest card and then another comes out in 6 months it's only a small ass upgrade and not worth the time and money.

Name a card that has lasted 7 years and will still give you industry leading performance? The fact is that PC Gaming is infinitely more expensive than console gaming. You get cheaper games through steam and better graphics but PCs are constantly evolving so you have to keep upgrading if you want to run the latest software in the best possible way. If you buy a console you only purchase one set of hardware and the graphics get better towards the end of the cycle as opposed to a PC where you have to turn the settings lower and lower as the games start to require more.

His card will be just fine like mine has been for the past two years. And that card will still beat XBOX 360 graphics running the exact same games too. I got enough RAM and a strong enough processor to make up the difference. I ran Crysis 3 at 1080p on next to full detail using a Geforce GTX 560 ti in a backup PC I built a few years ago. People keep thinking you need to spend 1000 bucks to have a good PC for gaming. And honestly even a mid range PC with a budget priced ($130) graphics card will still allow you to tweak the game settings graphically enough to outdo these consoles.

Fortunately, for "all that money" you say maintaining a pc costs the benefit is usually that you're NOT just playing games on it. My PC has saved me thousands of dollars yearly. I use it for gaming, tv, business, officework, and video editing. So all that extra money is not for nothing.

I'm running. Q6600 and a 260gtx which is pretty old by now and I'm still doing good on my pc. Looks better than any thing on my console.

Console gaming if good for some though just I prefer pc.

My computer isn't worth much these days but it still games hard.

Agreed on everything except that I believe PC has a wider range of gamers because PC has more genres and types of games than console. I mean, damn, MOBA genre games like League of Legends are practically none existant on console save for the recent Lord of the Rings: Guardians game. Nothing on console is like Natural Selection 2 which mixes FPS and RTS. Consoles are just now starting to expand to types of games that have existed on PC for years. Free2Play games even are finally hitting consoles. But that's not to say next gen won't go there.

Thread Critic pretty much said what the average consumer is thinking. They want to play games not build a PC for thousands of dollars to play a game.

Is the graphics better? Yes. Experience? Debatable. If you calculate the ease of use and the learning curve the average consumer is going to just buy a console and call it day.
