Hoarding is disease a powerful disease. I watched a lot of the hoarding buried alive, and people who do that have been through some mental trauma. Not saying that laziness isn't part of it but at some point the mind needs to tell enough is enough. There is something wrong at a deep mental level with these people.

My apartment is usually immaculate: I wash dishes, and even dry out my sink, every day. The same goes for vacuuming and making my bed. I even dust and vacuum out my couch, usually, once a week too. Moreover, I mop my kitchen floor and bathroom twice a week.
The only thing I let go is my bath tub. I only take showers so I don't feel the need to scrub out my tub very often. That was until after I saw that video. I had been putting off scrubbing out my tub for some time. But about half-way through that video I felt compelled to scrub the shit out of it. I probably would have kept putting it off had I not seen how nasty those people were. So thanks. That video left an indelible impression on me about cleanliness.

No man. She has a mental illness. Mental illness affects people of all races. My ex-girl, who is Black, was like that too. She had depression, and right before we broke up, when her depression got to be more than I could bare, she wouldn't clean, or do much else, either. Granted, when we lived together our crib never got any where near that nasty, but it was only because I cleaned.
For example, I bought the last vacuum cleaner; when it broke, she was supposed to buy a new one. She wouldn't buy one. So to protest, I didn't buy one either. After a few weeks the carpets got so nasty that I finally broke down and bought one. She was a mess. While I don't believe my ex would let her home get as nasty as the woman's house in that video, I do believe that during her bouts of serious depression her home is comparable. It's mental illness that causes them to be like that, though.
