Would you divorce your hubby if he lost his job and car got repossessed?

So I caught up with an ol homegirl from College last night.

I'm over at her crib, and there's this big latino dude fixing her pipes in the bathroom.

At first, I'm thinking maybe he's just a random plumber or something, but by the way they're interacting with each other I can tell that it's so much more.

I pull her aside in the dining room and ask:

"Girl...did You get divorced???"

She replies "Nah not yet..."

She's been married for about 7 years, and has 2 children.

Apparently, she's been seeing various dudes for the past year and a half.

I ask why, and she tells me after the last pregnancy, he lost his job, and she had to start working again to make ends meet. His car got repossessed also, and they were the laughing stock of the neighborhood! :smh:

He's been unemployed for over a year, he just sits at home and plays video games all day, and quite frankly she's getting TIRED of it.

She's seriously contemplating a divorce if he doesn't get his act together soon.

So what would y'all do?

You appear to have a lot of 'friends' going thru trouble times...

Just like in the post upstairs, only this one is a woman....

Friend from college...you go to condo, someone is there providing a service.
They are more than friends...upstairs the woman had gained weight,in this one the guy has lost his job. Both just sit around...
Both been married for 7 years with 2 kids...

If you gonna make up stories,at least change the senario more...

C'mon, I thought it was obvious that it's a "hypothetical" situation...

I'll entertain this hypothetical situation because I am bored :)

I think that the wife is in the wrong. I think people in society today give up to easy on everything. What happened to devotion and commitment?

Maybe there is a deeper issue with the husband that is keeping him from going out and getting a job. Maybe he feels inadequate or unqualified. Or maybe he is tired of work and is unfulfilled. . .

Whatever the case maybe she has given up to quickly.. . I think that married people in America today are too quick to give up their marriages. .

What happened to forever?

^hmm

i just skimmed the topic but iono...i don't know if the wife is completely wrong in this.

i will come to my conclusion later lol

hahahaha @ the hypothetical situation

So, the other day I was driving to work in one of those new

hybrid cars that run on olive oil and acetone. Anyway, so

I'm driving, but not so fast and then something like a

yellow unicorn is just there on the other side of the street

looking.

I'm like wtf? How the fuck is this unicorn just gonna be

like and then a squirrel was on the unicorn's back. So I'm

trying to pull over, right and then Michael Bolton is trying to

sell me shrimp Lo Mein and then after I leave the diner I

forgot that the last time I was at that place near the Muslim

church when I was and then something but now it's like

good. :)

Bye.:)

In my opinion when you are reciting your marriage vows, the words 'For better of for worse' comes to mind when doing so.

Dude your bored...
I swear you posted a similar story about a guy.
What answer would get you to stop posting these fictitious scenarios?

Let me hypothetically chime in on your comment . . .

While I agree in "for better or worst" and having commitment and devotion to your mate, in the OP's original hypothetical post, not only is the guy unemployed, but just sits at home all day and plays video games!

In such a hypothetical situation, I believe that anyone can lose their job and it may take some time to find something suitable, but meanwhile, do not just sit on your hypothetical ass and do nothing but play video games. Hell, you should be hard at work EVERY DAY looking for work, and work ANY JOB until you are able to get back on track again. At least make some effort to contribute to the household while going through the hypothetical rough times.

If he was honestly trying to get back on his feet then no I wouldn't divorce him. I would stick by my man but if he isn't trying to do anything to better his life and the life of his family then I would drop his ass like a hot potatoe. She should at least give the man a chance IMO.

I think people should take this post "for which it's stands" and taken way more seriously though it is hypothetically written. It leaves just the right doors open for speculations on very real situations.
Fact is, I do know somebody who is trying to leave their husband for this exact reason.

Ya act like

1. Losing your job.
2. Repo of the whip
3. Playing games all day.

It's not like this isn't an uncommon circumstance married couple face on a daily.

The real mix is #3. If you lose your job, you don't sit around with a defeated attitude for a year, especially if you wife is pregnant or you have kids. If so "Joe the plumber" is going to be tightening up your wife's pipes.

Lots of Kats fall into a slump when they had a "Nice job, with a nice ride". Many don't think they can get another. They retreat to the make believe world of GamePlay while their wife is dealing with some HARSH REALITIES. Fact is anybody can lose their job and car. So she should learn to swallow her pride and know you can't keep a good man down (at least not for long). There's no excuse of not doing shit about a job for a year.

Brothas, if you lose your job. It's not the end of the world, it could be the beginning of your new world into entrepreneurship. Don't fall into a reclusive upright fetal position around a game controller. A man has to do what a man has to do. Even if it's not what you want. DO SOMETHING. At least show your wife you are a warrior at heart. Don't give up. But don't make her or your family suffer. Don't blame anyone. Unemployment is not personal. It's economics that's all. Even if you do something stupid to get yourself fired, don't guilt yourself or everyone else. Just move on and do better next time.

Ladies, the end of a job, it should not be the end of your marriage. If you see your man get knocked down, don't kick a dog when it's down. Encourage him as a man. Don't start rationing the love, or love making...let him know you feel his pain. Build up his confidence, give him a little time, but let him know you expect him to still be the KING, the Man of the House.
And you are worth fighting for on a daily. Cook the good meals....he's going to want to keep the frig full.

Losing a job, is devastating, maybe he does need more professional help, but if you leave him because it made you looked bad. Then you didn't love him in the first place. You weren't worth keeping in the first place.

Call tito, or who ever the handman was ....tyrone. Remember if he was making duckets before, he will rise to the top again, then he might be calling Sherone when he gets his dough back and start a new family. WIT OUT CHEW
