Mascot Coordinator - Phoenix Suns (Phoenix, AZ)
The Phoenix Suns Community Relations department is currently hiring for a full-time, salaried Mascot Coordinator.
The Mascot Coordinator shall be responsible for coordinating a multitude of appearances for the Phoenix Suns Gorilla as well as attending special events and ensuring their implementation and success. He or she will report to the Director of Community Relations.
Some responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Scheduling community relations, Suns Charities, public relations, and marketing appearances.
• Assist The Gorilla at all appearances and coordinate with the contact person to ensure that the event is set up properly.
• Oversee all youth programs directly related to The Gorilla.
• Monitor the website section pertaining to The Gorilla, includes downloading photos and updating new content from various events to enhance The Gorilla’s image.
• Prepare, manage and track all expenses as it relates to The Gorilla budget.
• Use creativity to enhance The Gorilla’s image during shows, including being able to adjust mid-show if need be to accommodate The Gorilla or situations that may arise.
• Work with vendors to coordinate pricing, timing, and delivery of giveaway items.
• Outgoing personality with ability to direct and command attention from large groups of people.
• Provide high level of customer service with groups requesting an appearance from The Gorilla in order to build relationships throughout the community and state.
The ideal candidate will possess:
• A four year college degree preferred (Communications, Marketing or related field preferred)
• Ability to work majority of weekends, holidays, and evenings
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal skills; creative conceptualization as it relates to children’s shows and performances
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Extremely well-organized with the ability to multi-task effectively and work under extremely tight deadlines
• A strong work ethic
• A proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Web or HTML experience a plus.
