Community Relations Coordinator - New York Knicks/Madison Square Garden (New York, NY)
Description: The Community Relations Coordinator is the contact person for all charitable donation requests, alumni appearances and community events in the tri-state area. Responsible for the daily coordination and execution of community programs, activities and initiatives. Maintain the community relations event calendar for player appearances and staff visits for all programs. Manage the needs of the players, alumni, celebrities and team staff for events. Coordinate all in-arena community activities and communicate the teams’ community relations mission and messages to all internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate all team merchandise inventory and fulfill and track charitable requests from local community and non-profit organizations. Keep accurate records of program elements, partnership agreements and create season ending reports and re-cap binders. Coordinate budgets, track invoices/receipts, generate reports and fulfill sponsorship obligations. Participates in special projects and performs other tasks as assigned.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with three or more years of community outreach, marketing and event experience. Must have non-profit experience, with emphasis in the area of event planning and fundraising. Must be detail oriented, motivated and a self-starter with high energy, with the ability to juggle multiple and varying projects. Must have excellent written, verbal, organizational, and time management skills. Candidate should possess the ability to think creatively, develop solutions and strategies in a high-stress, rapid pace, ever changing, deadline-oriented environment. The ability to develop good working relationships with staff, players and stakeholders is a must. Excellent project management skills with a passion and commitment to the team and organization is vital. Must have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Should have merchandise purchasing and inventory management experience. Sports knowledge is preferred.
