Shock Public Relations Assistant - Detroit Shock/Palace Sports and Entertainment Service Company (Auburn Hills, MI)


The 2006 WNBA Champion Detroit Shock is looking for a Public Relations Assistant. The Public Relations Assistant will work in various capacities in the public relations department helping to keep the media and community informed on the happenings of the Shock.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING;

1. Assist with team’s home page, newsletters, media guides and department manuals;

2. Prepare daily news clippings from local, national and international news media & the Internet;

3. Actively participate in planning, setting up and controlling all aspects of press conferences;


4. Write press releases as needed and follow through with the editing process;

5. Distribute post-game quotes and notes/statistics to local and national media.

6. Coordinate photo library;

7. Set up and assist with game day/night operations;

8. Responsible for media credentials;

9. Prepare advance media packets for opposing teams;

10. Responsible for statistical compilation for game notes;

11. Assist in all logistics as it pertains to obtaining publicity for all the team’s events and player appearances;

12. Office/administration duties, including data entry, answering phones, copying, filing and faxing;

13. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. College degree in Public Relations or other related fields.

2. Excellent writing and communication skills.

3. Candidates must be able to work extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.


4. Candidates must have the ability to receive directions and requests from multiple sources and effectively prioritize their work.

5. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
