Community Relations Assistant - Detroit Pistons/Palace Sports and Entertainment Service Company (Auburn Hills, MI)


Palace Sports and Entertainment Service Company is looking for a Community Relations Assistant. This position will contribute in various aspects of the community relations department, including planning and development of programming, event management, the Pistons-Palace Foundation, fundraising and assisting department with general day-to-day responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

NBA Pistons/WNBA Shock Programming and Event Management:

· Assist with all programming and events, including planning and development

· Assist with secondary programming, including planning and development

· Manage and/or assist with all department drives (i.e. coat drive, mitten drive and book drive)

· Point-person for charitable donation programs, including drafting responses, communicating with community ambassadors, and fulfilling incoming requests

· Point-person for charitable ticket donations for sales blitz tickets, player tickets, sponsor tickets and family show tickets

· Maintain database of all items donated through CR charitable merchandise program

· Develop and maintain partnerships with non-profit and local organizations

· Schedule and execute on-court presentations as necessary

· Assist with monitoring department inventory (i.e. autographed items)

Pistons-Palace Foundation:

· Assist within special event fundraisers and general efforts as needed

· Assist with all in-arena and on-line auction activity

· Responsible for data entry related to the Foundation

· Assist with launch of Foundation programming (i.e. grant and scholarship programs)

Miscellaneous:

· Handle day-to-day administrative duties

· Assist with increasing and enhancing player imaging locally and nationally

· Contribute to community relations in support of group sales efforts

· Support CR staff the training and supervising of interns, streamlining responsibilities appropriately including research assignments, website copy, incoming Foundation calls, special projects and miscellaneous.

· Join boards, committees and other external organizations as necessary

· Other responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A college degree from a four-year accredited university

2. Prior experience within community relations/non-profit

3. Candidates must be able to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as required

4. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel

5. Candidates must have the ability to receive directions and requests from multiple sources and effectively prioritize and complete their work in a timely manner

6. Must have excellent communication skills both, verbal and written

7. Ability to handle highly confidential information is compulsory
