Corporate Communications Coordinator - Cleveland Cavaliers (Cleveland, OH)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Director of Corporate Communications, responsibilities include:
1. Maintain a high profile for organizational business activities and achievements in marketing, corporate sales, ticket sales, community relations and operational areas within local, regional and national industry trade publications and business media outlets.
2. Facilitate media exposure that supports corporate partnerships and marketing promotions.
3. Track media exposure for team partners to measure added value from publicity generated.
4. Build relationships with members of the media in the areas of sports, business, entertainment, metro and community relations that enhance coverage of organizational events and activities.
DUTIES: Work closely with all other internal departments to generate, develop and execute business-oriented public relations opportunities through the following duties:
1. Analyze internal and external data, statistics, surveys and such to create messages that provide informational background for company profile that reflects growth and achievements.
2. Write press releases and media advisories for scheduled organizational activities.
3. Coordinate event publicity; set up interviews, escort spokespersons to TV/radio appearances.
4. Coordinate media relations including follow up phone calls, credentialing and media drops.
5. Track media coverage, maintain press matrix and prepare media summaries.
6. Assist with content development for cavs.com related to business PR opportunities.
7. Customer service: responding to fan emails, addressing complaints, general inquiries
8. Maintain and update media contacts database.
9. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Corporate Communications.
REQUIREMENTS: B.S. or B.A. degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in public relations, communications or journalism is highly desired. Must possess strong writing and oral communications skills, both in person and over the phone. Must have a friendly and outgoing personality to engage the media and public. Significant depth of understanding of the business elements associated with a professional sports team is strongly preferred. Must be skilled at developing presentations and written communications tools. Must have strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Must be available to work Cavaliers games and other events as assigned, which will include some evenings and weekends.
