Sales & Marketing: Fan Development
Manager, Basketball Development - Atlanta Hawks/Atlanta Spirit, LLC (Atlanta, GA)
SUMMARY: Responsible for the design, development of the execution plan, and management of all programming to develop new basketball fans and strengthen the Atlanta Hawks brand and presence in the community. The purpose of basketball development/ fan development programming is to expand the Hawks fan base (both locally and regionally) through basketball instruction, education, brand awareness and promotion targeted primarily to youth with secondary emphasis on young adults.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Develop, build, and maintain relationships with top basketball facilities and community organizations/agencies in the greater Atlanta area, the state of Georgia and nationally through partnership with Community Development (CD) Basketball Development for the purpose of marketing, selling and promoting Basketball Development programs.
Develop clinics/camps and activity strategy (Jr. Hawks, etc.) for youth, adults, coaches- as the primary creator, designer and manager for CD Hawks and Community Branded facilities.
Oversee all Basketball Development programs (non-game day), budget, full and part time Basketball Development staff. Hire, manage, train and certify suitable individuals for Basketball Development Staff. Oversees website development related to Hawks Community Basketball Development.
Work closely with Ticket Sales to implement basketball development driven ticket sales initiatives to enhance programming, drive attendance and revenue.
Collaborate and communicate with Broadcast and Corporate Partnerships and other cross-functional teams (PR/Communications, Marketing, Ticket Sales, Philips Arena) to insure all Basketball Development activities are well supported and promoted to create maximum brand awareness and drives successful return on investment (ROI).
Collaborate cross-departmentally (Hockey Development) to utilize best practice, create consistency and capitalize on strategies and synergy within Fan Development and Community Development.
Partner and collaborate with Broadcast and Corporate Partnerships to proactively develop Basketball Development programs suitable for sponsorship. Maintain outstanding relationships with sponsors to grow investment.
Leads the Hawks Alumni Program. Produce annual programming to strengthen ties with Hawks Alumni and engage them in the community. Collaborate with Hawks Alumni committee to produce meetings, budget, activities, newsletters, perks/benefits, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS: Basketball instruction experience is a must. Must have excellent leadership, project management, supervisory and presentation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Data Base and Access. Hours vary and must be able to work, nights, weekends and holidays.
