Will Ricky Rubio drop down to the Knicks at #8?

Last week it appeared to be a lock that the Kings would take Ricky Rubio if he was available with the fourth pick.

Now, reports indicate that Sacramento general manager Geoff Petrie could be leaning towards Memphis guard Tyreke Evans and Syracuse guard Jonny Flynn.

If this holds true or the Knicks manage to trade up to the #4 spot, I'll be one of many happy NY fans. Dude is the truth with the rock.

they mentioned something on the radio this morning that Rubio's agent called a few of the teams with the 2,3,4 picks and told them dont bother drafting him. Wonder if that's even true.....

If the dude can't shoot...it doesn't matter.
If he can get the ball to anyone on the court & run the break efficiently then it wont be as big a deal. The jumper can come as he matures. Keep in mind, he's only 18 now & has a long career ahead of him barring any major injuries. You can always find people who can shoot a consistent jumper but finding a point guard who knows when & how to dish the ball exceptionally is tougher to find.

guess you didn't learn last year with gallinari.

every knick game i watched this past season - he shot an airball. EVERY GAME. and that's if he got in the game.
Then you didn't see much of him then. I'll admit that he looked nervous as hell in his 1st few games but later on he was shooting the lights out & was only 60% healthy. He shot 44% from 3pt range & showed flashes of what made the Knicks draft him. If he still doesn't show you anything this coing season then by all means label him as a bum. As for him being fragile, there are few people who can run into a blind screen set by Robert "Tractor" Traylor & not get hurt.

That might hold true if Rubio was just a missing piece on a team that already had established shooters and an established low-post presence and a gy who finishes at the basket with consistency. Our "shooters" right now are Q Rich & Al Harington & Calamari (Gallinari). Not all that scary. Our low post presence is a guy (Curry) who never comes into camp in shape. Our finish at the basket guys are ..... ??? Chandler? And I dunno if Nate or DLee are coming back.

We can't draft Rubio thinking he's a missing piece...."a start" perhaps but not a missing piece. Gotta put the right pieces around him for the future cuz he's not breaking camp as a starter.

rather trade Lee for a lotto 1st rounder and buy a late 1st rounder for 3 mil and trade nate for a mid 1st rounder and then buy a 2nd rounder and just go all out...

I honestly don't think Walsh is looking at any of these drafts looking for missing pieces. He's building the roster with good complementary players so when the big free agents are available, there'll be more incentive for them to sign. No free agent wants to go to a team where they'll be frustrated night after night because his teammates can't play their position.

Knicks need to stop fucking around and try to get a deal done with Orlando for Jameer Nelson. Unlikely but it's worth a shot

Any team that didn't make the playoffs that wants to make a move into playoff contention in the next couple of seasons needs to get out of this draft. There are maybe a handful of sureshot dudes that will actually be productive NBA players for the team that drafts them. This will go down as one of the bigger bust drafts in NBA history.

And the fucked up thing is.....Tyler Hansbrough will not be a bust. Once he developed that jump shot (especially that little turnaround J) in his last year, he all but guaranteed himself a good 8-12 year career.

I just can't shake the vibe that he's gonna be Mark Madsen with a better jumper.

Not a fan of rubio. Hoping the knicks don't get him.

Agreed.

Rubio is NOT the answer. Not even close.

I doubt he's gonna be breaking ankles & dishing lots of assists once these NBA assistant coaches start watching tapes & planning strategies.

- His highlight reel is not spectacular.
- He shot is slow as molasses.
- And he got ZERO elevation.

Reminds me of how some people were hyping Gallinari last year.
And Gallinari is nothing to 'write home about', either. :smh:

He's a lightweight who is still about 1 or 2 years away FROM BEING PHYSICALLY ABLE TO COMPETE FOR EVEN 1 FULL NBA SEASON. :hmm: (I predict he will miss AT LEAST 25-30 games next season... and that's being generous.)

The Knicks have a bad habit of passing up talented players, who are ready to contribute on Day1... for these '3-yr project'-type players ... if they don't trade away the pick completely, that is. :hmm:

Especially since 2000, if they ever DO happen to acquire a decent player... (aside from Nate & D. Lee)... they get NO significant run. Then get traded and enjoy SUCCESS on other squads. (Think: Ronaldo Balkman & Trevor Ariza  to name a few)

I can name 4 players (off-the-top) I would have drafted instead of Gallinari.

- CHA Drafted #9: D.J. Augustin, PPG 11.1
- ORL Drafted #22: Courtney Lee, PPG 8.4
- POR Drafted #13: Brandon Rush, PPG 8.1
- NJN Drafted #9: Brook Lopez, PPG 13.0
- NYK Drafted #6: Danilo Gallinari, PPG 6.1 (only played 28 games :smh:)

And I can name at least 4 (off-the-top) I would draft instead of Rubio.

- Stephen Curry (might not be available, so I added 1 more to the list)
- DeJuan Blair
- Gerald Hendersen
- Sam Young
- Ty Lawson
