Will Oprah replace Feinstein?

It has been reported that Governor Gavin Newsom was kicking around the idea of replacing an aged Dianne Feinstein (if she resigns) with Oprah.

This is the exact reason why I can take politicians serious. Out of all of the brilliant minds out there like economists, lawyers, teachers etc... you want to put Oprah in office to represent us. GTFOHWTBS.

She would be an upgrade over Feinstein. Also, what's wrong with Oprah? What makes her less qualified than other people sitting in Congress right now?

Which economists, lawyers, teachers do you have in mind?
Are you for real? It's those people in the House/Senate/Supreme court who are fucking things up right now. The vast majority of these people can't truly govern a populous. They have no business being in these seats, so why in the Hell would we add one more just because she's a famous/rich celebrity?

I think that Ketanji Brown-Jackson was a great choice for the Supreme Court. Amy Coney Barrett was an absolutely horrible choice. The people who are placed in these offices should be truly thought out, and vetted with the utmost care. They should not be placed in these positions because of their social status or because of nepotism. They should be place there because of their academic and mental acumen.

There's a Brother named Peter Blair Henry who's specialty is International Economics. He's a former Dean of NYU. California has the fifth largest economy on the planet, and instead of considering a guy like this, who'll be a great pick for a state like California... they'd rather choose someone who has absolutely no experience what so ever. She has dough though, and everyone knows her. The Hell with that!

He lives in NYC. How can he be a Senator for California?
Bro... I'm saying someone like him. It doesn't have to be him per se. UCLA, USC, Stanford, Cal... All of these schools have produced excellent people who could be qualified to take that position.

Oprah was from Mississippi (I believe), now she's in Cali. She isn't homegrown.

Has nothing to do with being a California native. The man you mentioned currently lives in NYC.

Oprah lives in California.

Name a California economist who should take the job. Hell name one that even wants the job.

For all we know, Oprah doesn't even want it, but to my point earlier, she would be a better pick than Feinstein since she's younger, healthy and is a known and successful businesswoman with a hell of a reach.

Not a bad idea? Please explain?

I don't see where she's qualified to represent the fifth largest economy in the world.
Dynamic, smart, principled, respected...non-politician. She and Padilla can do it. She will have a strong staff, she reads. I trust her to do the right thing...a lot of qualified people go there and do the WRONG THING

Nah bro. Oprah would be way more powerful than some academic. Politics is a people game it's not an intellectual battle. Oprah has people power and a shit load of money. She is what politics is today. Popularity and money. I wish our country was run by the best and brightest but it's not and dropping one smart dude in a sea of dummies ain't gonna fix shit.

I swear, some of you guys like to make statements just to see your own words.

The guy I named could move to California in a heart beat, what does that have to do with anything? But even if he wouldn't, there are people here who are qualified just like him. When I was at SC, I had an economic professor last named DeSantis. He was from Italy, and he graduated from the University of Chicago's Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics. A lot of Nobel prize winners for economics come from that school. And at the time, he lived here in California. The man was super brilliant, and he could have easily represented us in the Senate.

Do you think that Oprah wants the job (I doubt it)? It isn't about her wanting the job though. It's about the governor even "considering" her for a job that she's not qualified for.

It's also not about Oprah being better than Feinstein. It's about who's next. Feinstein is old, and she should have resigned years and years ago. She should have been replaced with a better more "qualified" person who would be prepared to represent California in the U.S. Senate and beyond.

Oprah has a hell of a reach? Reaching what? A Louis bag? A private jet? Women on OWN? Bro. if they send Oprah to represent us at that Hague, the International Monetary Fund, Putin, and Xi Jiping... they'd eat her alive. America and Americans are suffering because we have subpar representatives representing us EVERYWHERE! When is enough?

"Politics is a people game, it's not an intellectual battle."

Real talk... You've just restored my hope in humanity. I totally understand what you're saying. I have to agree with you, too.

Although "I" would like to see better qualified people running our country, I have to accept that popularity is winning the day.

Good points, Brother!
