Will The Boston Red Sox Trade 'Big Papi' ?.........

.....plus, he's a fan favorite in Boston and throughout baseball. Unfortunately, at this late date, he's not hitting his weight....batting around .186; **OPS .282; 51 SO; and 184 at batts/35 hits.. This is a transition from 'Mr. Clutch' to 'Mr. Clutchless'.

Ortiz is expecting the worst (a trade, and has experienced some of it...AKA, riding the pine and removal from the everyday line-up.

If he doesn't show noticeable improvement by MLB trade deadline (July), they may trade him. Rumors strongly suggest that event occuring. If things don't improve soon, Boston will have to get off the 'pot'.

Should they consider a trade?

**OPS: "On base percentage+ slugging percentage. The OPS measures a player's offensive value. A .900+ puts a player in the upper part of the category and is most desirable.

At this point in time, they wouldn't get anything for him. Not to mention their trade partners are limited since he has no defensive skills. They would only have two divisions to trade him to: AL Central, AL West. They're not stupid enough to traded him within the division.

i think he will bounce back. he wont post up mvp numbers but he will get to .250 and 15 homers. that would be great given this start. i still think they cant trade him.

Like other folks said, he can only go to another AL team so he can play DH since he would be a liability defensively in the NL. Not to mention a lot of guys his size/age tend to decline REAL fast so there isn't much upside if any at all.

I heard the rumors on the MLB show on XM radio. It would be strange to see him with another team.

Didn't they say there is something wrong with his vision? Not sure if it was true but I read about that last week.

Na, his test results revealed no problem with his vision. His 3-run HR last night against the Yanks came without the aid of glasses or contacts. Hits the Yanks like he owns them.

a part of this is not having Manny batting behind him in the lineup. That's common in baseball.

You do know the Sox got him from the Twins...and who batted behind him there??? Wasnt Manny or Torii Hunter. I really think its psychological. He may come out of it when he is ready.

it's not all on him to come out of it (yeah, some of it IS on him). but pitchers also pitch to you differently when there's not a feared hitter in the on deck circle.. Looks like he's starting to produce now, which is a good thing.

we'll take him!
