Why Washington is not winning consistantly - Joe Gibbs

I know it's like spitting on a cross to say this, but Joe has got to step up his game this year or step off. He is single-handedly killing the Washington franchise. It used to be Snyder, but Joe is now the lone culprit.

Let's look back on some of the decisions made under Joe's regime:

1. Trading Champ Baily for Portis. (Don't get me wrong, portis is nice, but you can usually find a good RB. You Can't pick up a HOF CB every year).

2. Giving up draft picks for Duckett last year, who, by the way, was in his last year of his contract?!?!?!?, and is NOT on the roster this year.

3. Drafting NO interior line help for for years running (while averaging the lowest sack totals as well).:smh:

4. Signing FS Adam Arechuleta then placing him in the doghouse because they realized, AFTER signing him to a multi-million dollar deal, that he did not actually fit into their system?!?!? Gone in a year like Duckett.
:(:confused::puke:

5. Having one of the top 5 offenses in the league 2 years ago, and then, from out of nowhere , bringing in Al Saunders to revamp the whole offense.:angry:

(There are so many other things to list, but I am not trying to get Colin Powell peeking in on my post)!

Essentially, Joe is killing Washington with his bend-but-don't-break conservative play calling and poor GM skills.(Look at the wide receiver revolving door game they are playing now for the 3rd WR!?!?!!?).

More importantly Joe is f-n over Jason Campbell!!! I hate the fact that he keeps calling him "young" and putting the breaks on him. Eli Manning got thrown into the fray and is "allowed" to make mistakes as a rookie. The Giant organization kept letting him play downfield. Jason is not Eil, thank God, but Eli is no Peyton! The pass that Jason threw to Moss in between the two Giant defenders last week was THE best longball precision pass I have seen in a very long time. They don't test the corners enough with the speed and QB they have.

This is not the 80's. You can't stockpile talent for years and groom them. The time is now.

Please tell me I am not the only son who sees this...

he only came back for the money and the skins just suck and will continue to suck for a long time

I'm not saying all of that.:hmm:

However, if Gibbs does not get out of the 80's mindframe and adapt to the speed and eveolution of the game then Washington will be ruined by his hand alone.

"Counter tre, sweep right on 2. Counter tre, sweet right on 2, ready, break."

:smh:

That last game loss to the Giants was TOTALLY ON COACHING. The redundant play calls, not having Portis in on the last series, spiking the ball - everything.

Not only that, but Danny Boy needs to take off the blazer, loosen up the tie, and start regulating these drafts. LaRon Landry was a beautiful pick and the Skins can always find quality within the draft, if they'd actually use it to their advantage. But they never do. They've got some love affair with the Broncos front office, and send everything their way.

All quality teams have this one common thread. They all draft well.

Patriots
Steelers
Cowboys
Eagles
Indianapolis
Bears.

For the life of me, I couldn't understand it. It's typical Joe Gibbs nutless, yes NUTless football. Let CP carry the rock 88 some yrds, get to the goal line and then hand it to Betts 16 times, and settling for three, or in this case, the game.

Play calling like that wont get you far in the league. Look at the Cardinals.

I would not rush to have that happen either. Remember Danny and Vinny brought the "Trotter, Brunel, Deion Sanders, Bruce Smith et al. Experiment". They draft for fantasy leagues. They need a real GM. Of all the moves that I would not have minded them make this year was picking up Tank Johnson before Dallas. They need constant pressure on the QB. Even though they had some minor success this year it's not on the regular.

Don't worry. This guy will be a free agent by years end.

Then it will be just like old times.:lol::lol::lol:

Snyder went out and got Gibbs just to sell tickets.
On the real, wshington was the most profitble football franchise until this year - several years running if I am not mistaken. So money has never been, nor will it be an issue. I think Snyder wants to win. He turned to his idol to get it done. It's just his 1980's idol is not meshing well with 2000.

I've been saying all the same things. I won't blame him for Champ Bailey because Champ wanted out. Archaletta and Duckett...Damn. And they have to take the breaks of off Cambell! That's why we lost to the Giants the piss poor play clling in the 2nd half. let the boy play!

Campbell has the "potential", based on what I've see so far, to be a deep ball threat like Drew Breeze (of last year), Carson Palmer, Peyton and Brady. He has two deep threats already, screw Lloyd. If they get their blocking right, and get the line healty, they put Cooley back into the mix and he is your 3rd option.

exxactly...everything you broke down is the reason why as much as I love the redskins I had to take a break from rooting for that team until that front got their shit together..my frustration level was beyond high..and you are right joe gibbs has came in and made things absolutely worse..I and every other sensible redskins fan have been yelling for years for them to get a GM..I dont even know where to start..the wasted and giving away of draft picks is what exactly sent me over the top...The redskins talent level should be on par with that of a San Diego and New England if they kept most of their draft picks and pursued free agents smartly...ohwell..Ill also say this you know the coach up in cincinnati...yeah...he should be the redskins coach right now but dan snyder had so much faith in steve spurrier...tell me how that worked out again...peace out..

These are the biggest unkept secrets in Washington, but Joe does his own thing. I have to give it to him, the locker room does not spill out into the media and blast him. They have kept everything in house. Fans and talk show host have at it, but you never hear them openly complain about we are talking about. And this is done while taking losses (last 3 years)...

you speaking the truth..the absolute truth...I think maybe only Michael Wilbon has stated his disdain for the whole coach being the GM connection...Most others in DC are like "wellllllllllll we believe in Joe so let him do what he needs to do":smh:...well if yall dont go to the playoffs this year then I think the heat will start to build for Gibbs to exit stage left

Fuck that franchise....

The COWBOYS are Back (sung to the tune of "The Fat Boys Are Back")

As a Bears fan,I used to have mad respect for Gibbs from afar. Matter of fact, during the years post-Ditka and pre-Lovie-when we had the likes of Wanny and Jauron, when Gibbs was retired-I used to occasionally end my prayers with-"Oh and G-d,please let Joe Gibbs coach the Bears."

he should trade clinton portis for john riggins & mark may and get that counter tre to working one more 'gin.

:yes::yes::yes:

This is my reply from the McCardell thread and it fits here too.

Yeah the redskins front office is a fucking joke. Dan Snyder is the worst owner and we don't even have a GM. I give Mr. McCardell props for his contribution to the game of football. Hopefully he can be our possesion guy (James Thrash is washed up). I don't think Brandon Lloyd is a bust yet but signing all these WR's (Reche Caldwell) is got to be a sign that they are going to trade Brandon Lloyd by the trade deadline. As long as they double team Moss and Cooley, the Redskins definitely need production at WR. Extra note, Joe Gibbs... the dude is a demigod in DC, but we aint gonna win with his conservatuve ass play calling. We have the capability with Al Saunders offense.

I 2nd that.

Me and my boys watch the games and are never certain about the outcome. Joe Gibbs use to make changes at halftime and come out smoking. Now he can't figure out which running back to get the most carries (though one is PAID like an elite back), the two minute drill, be it at the half or the end of games to win, are unorganized and sloppy and they have no consistant aspect of the offense clicking every week. They make me hate liking them because most of their problems are self inflicted.

Portis was injured, he banged knees on the play before he came out on the last series of the Giants game...but Gibbs is a GOD in the DC area he has the job as long as he wants it....Long Live Joe Gibbs:dance:

What are you watching? They still haven't made the personel moves to run that offense. You need mobile linemen to run the toss sweep, we are bringing in old washed up linemen.....................Screw it. Gibbs won't even let Saunders run the offense. BOYCOTT until they get a GM! It's not worth the frustration repeating the same shit year after year. Nothing has changed or will change as long as Snyder owns the Team no matter who the coach is.

Really coach does need to give up the reigns they have made very poor decisions personnel wise over the years.

Bringing coach back was really for the fans not for the team we were headed n a downward spiral. Dan is a marketing genius its about TV ratings and getting asses in seats.

Lets keep it real for a minute the Redskins has a very low national tv rating it had been a minute since they have been on MFB or SNF so as a fan I give a lot of that to Joe being in DC as coach.

I have been disappointed that we've went out and said over several years that we would incorporate new 4 and 5 wide out sets change the running game and break away from the counter trey the "bread n butter" play of the franchise.

Yes changes are needed.
