NEW YORK – Neighbors called him a trigger-happy, troubled teen.

Michael Verbitsky, 19, is facing charges including assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon after police say he fired a BB pellet gun from the 10th floor of an apartment at 170 East End Ave. right across from Gracie mansion.

The BB pellet hit a plainclothes female officer in the back as she was getting out of an unmarked police car, part of mayor de Blasio’s security unit. The mayor wasn’t home at the time of the 7:15 p.m. incident.

The officer was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital treated and released.
Police arrested the 19-year-old Verbitsky and his girlfriend as they tried to elude police in this apartment building for the super-wealthy.

“You know it’s not cheap to live there,” Joseph Hummel, a neighbor, told PIX11. “Anyone living there can afford to be doing something better than shooting a pellet gun out the window.

There have been two other incidents the weekend before where neighbors said their windows were shattered by a pellet gun.

Police say Verbitsky has been arrested six times before including a 2012 robbery in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn involving a snatched handbag.

There was also a graffiti arrest in 2011.

Verbitsky is now being charged with those crimes as well.

“Right across from the mayor’s mansion, it’s insane,” another neighbor, Kevin Flanagan told PIX 11. “Cops all around. Guy’s having fun or something and now it’s going to ruin his life.”

Gustavo Lopez Hope they have constant checkpoints and stop and frisk in that area.. if they are in a rich neighborhood's they can afford guns and serious things to hurt us hard working humble americans. The mayor gotta clean up his own neighborhood first

Devante Tate Troubled teen because he's white I'm guessing but if I get arrested for something I'll be viewed automatically as criminal. Just a few weeks ago two 10 year olds pushed an old lady, took her things and ran but they weren't troubled according to you they were criminals at the age of 10 and because they were black.

Diane Dennis-Smith Is it just me? I understand that it was the mayors house and all that but really? Monster? People have done far worse in the past few days than shoot someone with a BB gun. I understand the seriousness, I really do, but it just seems the commets are already over the top because in reality, they're lucky it was a just a BB gun
