Read the comments on this site and you get a part of the reason. Deep seated animosities; ignorance, distrust, inferiority/superiority complexs, hatred, no sympathy/empathy for another not to mention the "other", narrow field of perceptions/perspectives.

As far as the Afro-Centric school goes?, they've been perusing it for years, the only reason why it's getting any push now is b/c they switched the focus of the school from Afro-Centric (African studies?? NO! NO! NO!) to "Black youths have a high dropout rate and the school will re-institutionalize them so then they can re-enter the regular school system" (Sounds GREAT!!!)

And some Black people here cant wait for it, not knowing that an Afro Centric school and a dumb niggaz school are two different schools!.

Yes, that happened about 5 years ago at the Cloverdale truck crossing near Vancouver. They also fucked with Mystikal, the Black Eyed Peas, Ja Rule, and countless other black musicians at the crossing. Either they didn't get in or had to endure lengthy waits. Meanwhile bands like Motley Crue and Guns N' Roses (a band that inspired at least two riots in Canada) get through with no problem.

I had to tell a black friend of mine to tuck in his dreads when we were going into Canada because I was tired of getting held up for 3 hours while the officers searched my truck, and occasionally our underwear, for drugs and weapons. We never had any problems going into the US though.

Well for starters there was a race of people brought here to build this damn country and once all was good we were emancipated. But not because people had this gigantic revelation that slavery was wrong it was so that we could be a consumer class to buy all the surplus goods that were being made. After all that we were still denied rights all the way up to the 1960s when the civil rights era was in full effect so you tell me...why is there racial tension in America? Maybe because there's still generations alive that can remember having to go to separate schools, restrooms, stores, restaurants, and etc than White people. Maybe because there's still people alive that remember their relatives getting hanged from trees from racist who went without consequence. Read a book!

This country was built apon the princibles of race and ones
supremacy over others.Its the thread that holds our fabric together...its the thing that built this country up and it will probably be one of the major factors in its destruction.

I agree. Barack Obama could never happen here because White people have done all they can to make Black Canadians invisible. When the Rascalz won a Juno for best rap group one year (A Juno is a Canadian Grammy for all who don't know) they were given the award before the ceremony even though they had the hottest video in the country. They refused the award.

When Canadian athlete Donovan Bailey broke the world's record in the 150m dash back in 1997 practically every white sports reporter in the country was quick to point out that he was a Jamaican immigrant and therefor not really "Canadian". I mean think about it. Canada, like the US, is a nation of immigrants. One of them achieves one of the highest sporting honors a country can ever receive and yet he gets pulled down by his own people.

You also have to wonder why more Canadians don't acknowledge Jimi Hendrix even though he was a dual citizen who spent much of his childhood and professional development in Canada. Nobody acknowledges the head of CSIS (Canada's version of the CIA) was a black woman either. Government artist grant societies like FACTOR and VIDEOFACT reject black artists (and white artists who make so-called "black music") as a matter of habit.

I guess the country's philosophy is "If we don't admit to any Black Canadians then we don't have to admit racism." In that sense I'm very glad to be moving to California in a couple months
