Why does America care what celebrities think of politics?

I was just thinking about this, why the fuck do the American people care what movie stars like George Clooney and Tom Cruise say about politics? let alone late night comedians like Rosie O'donnel and David Letterman? if they want to contribute money to their respective parties fine, but these clowns are in a position to influence voters and people listen to them, in Iran if some actor tried to act the fool and get involved in politics he would get slapped in the mouth and told to sit the fuck down and know his role, what do you cats think about this?

Because we idolize the television and the people who make their living in front of the camera. On some level we believe all the hype about them. So anything they say, we tend to believe em without question.

This is America, gf. They have the <u>Right</u> to speak their minds. And, because this is America, people have the right to listen or not to listen. Thats the American way. You wouldn't want to change that, would you ???

Point taken, just feel like alot of the hoopla involving alot of celebrities and their opinion boils down to a tangled web between genuine involvement & personal gain.

Could it be the media that exploits their efforts? Or maybe simply that when the camera is on they fall to the role of acting out thier cause??

IMO, the most sucessful of thier causes are the celebrities who take on a cause and its intrest is simply brought up casually in an interview with them. We have a celebrity govenator here a couple blocks down and i firmly believe it was his acting and muscle building that moved for him to oust the last one mid term, it sure wasnt his trail of thought or political prowess, perhaps it was his political connection thru marriage?

Anyhow, he says alot of fowl things publicly and breaks laws just like a commoner, nothing to gain there...

Should the corporations and CEO's that fund your favorite pipelayer....er I mean politician speak? What do they know of politics? It doesnt stop them from giving dude 2 million to run and then "do favors".

Who should speak the bill oright wings? We all can get the same info from the same books. If an american took time to read enough they could speak on politics. I dont care if you are a plumber or a reporter.

We are conditioned to take the political views of so called expert talk show hosts but what gives them a right to speak????

He aint on TV saying NASA better step their came up cause their technology is flawed and they are using the wrong computers, he spitting about some snakes that you can SEE and HEAR fuckign you over.

Go to BBC and see real news then turn on FOX and it doesnt take having a 175 IQ and a phd in political science to say BULLSHIT.

Of course the first thing one should know about a democracy is it is run with mob mentality AND by corporations, it should be refered to has a corpocracy and if the corporations can run our country by lobbying why cant actors speak out?????????

Muthafuckas using 20 million to get a 200 grand job and you can honestly complain about the actors and not call out the politicians.

Reagan was an actor before becoming gov. then president, what gave him his credentials? HE GOT INVOLVED. Its very right wing talk to say actors have no voice, once you get involved you are entitled to speak!!!!
