When the president of Dillard University, Walter M. Kimbrough, asked Denzel to speak at this year’s ceremony – Denzel was honored. Many don’t know that the “Man On Fire”, funds a scholarship program for Dillard University’s theatre department!
In his commencement speech…the actor told the graduate students of the times throughout his career that he was constantly reminded that his success…had nothing to do with him! His mother urged him not to forget that his success was owed to the people who have been praying for him!
From poor life choices to flunking out of college – Washington was open with the graduate. He implored students to make a difference. But the only way that would be possible was following this simple commandment:
