i know this might be stupid to point out but I don't think DRU HILL recorded theirs in 1996. Maybe 1998.

Aside from that, though.

GREAT POST!

Con Funk Shun not even close. If your going to record someone else's classic you need to do more than just sing it. I always thought Dru Hill's version was weak. :D

Dru Hill was kind of respectable but it kind of sounded karaoke to me? :dunno: Confunkshun all the way.

And I'd fuck? :dunno:

the original........it ain't even close...

but the pics...i had those pics at least 8-9 years ago and lost them thanks bro! bitch is FINE

ConFunkShun's version >>>>>>>. The only reason that Dru Hill's wasn't an abomination was because the groove of the original was so strong.

Who is the chick tho???

The original will always be better than any remake could ever hope to be

i don't know about that... there are still plenty of polls left for deuce to do... jodeci vs stevie wonder, chaka khan vs whitney... those are two where the newcomer *potentially* may upset the legend *edit* actually i wonder how cats would vote on the spinners vs r kelley too */edit*

i thought the same thing until i realized he was specifically referring to THIS poll. in other words the con funk shun love train will always be better than any future version that may come out by whoever.
i might have to agree with that given the state of music/artists of today

i dont think it was just a general blanket statement about originals and remakes in which case i too disagree i can point one or two out

i see what you are saying... good point

The ConFunkShun version wins this by 100 miles.

One of the main differences is the instrumentation. That's why the good old songs sound so RIGHT. A great live band that has been together musically interacting for years will always be >>>>>> than computerized blandness on a remake.

..Plus it was Michael Cooper singing the joint he himself wrote...so he puts that raw soul into it.

I am shocked Dru Hill got even one vote. The voter must have born in the late 80's.
