Looking to start doing more of my own detail. What products, tips or trick do you have or recommend? Anything from soaps, waxes, sponges, techniques.

If there’s already a thread I’ll delete.

I have full ppf on the front end of my car along with a ceramic coating on all surfaces. Ceramic coating keeps a deep gloss to your paint and makes it very easy to clean the car.

If you can afford a ceramic coating with paint correction then do it because it will get swirls, imperfections out of the clear coat, follow the steps below and you will be set.

I only hand wash, most of the time I use Optimum No rinse wash. Fill 2 buckets with water, drop a cap full of the Optimum in each bucket. The stuff is slick and is great if the water in your home is hard and doesn't leave water spots. I use microfiber mitt to clean a panel then dry with a microfiber towel until I hit the whole car. It makes washing fast.

The hardest part to me is cleaning my wheels.

You cant go wrong with any P&S detailing products, they also have a youtube channel where they demo their products

I'm the only person in my neighbourhood that I've ever seen using a rinseless wash, I'm sure I get some side eye thinking I am crazy for washing my car with a sponge

Man rinseless wash cuts the time of a normal wash in half. I sometimes use the sponge to clean the panel.

That PP is all the rage now. You’re the first to vouch for it. A place near me offers deals on it but never took it seriously. Can you expound on your experience?

Also, cleaning wheels is my LEAST favorite! My car has honeycomb style wheels that are a nightmare.

I'm an OCD auto detailer. I have a Gyeon Ceramic coating on my truck. My glass and wheels treatment regimen would make the average person's head spin. I'm busy right now, but I will go into a little more detail in the coming days.

PPF film is worth it to me due to me planning to keep my car until thr wheels fall off. I don't know where you live but in Houston the front end(paint) of cars take a beating from rock chips and other bs on a highway.

There is some great PPF that self heals in the sun or with a heat gun.

Alot of shops will throw in a full ceramic coating with PPF I stall.

I switched my stock brembo brake pads to ceramic pads because the brake dust was unbearable. After cleaning the wheels a 15 minute drive the wheels would be caked with brake dust.
