Cliff Note Version
A gentlemen gets a room for him and his girl under what he "thought" was a hook up. He says he contacted an IG associate to get him a room for him and his girl. He receives a text of what information to use to check in. That said information was a different person all together. That different person sees activity on his account and calls the hotel and says he didnt make the reservation and doesnt know the people.

Black guy says they did the same thing the night before (stupid move, basically admits guilt). The police confirm with scammed individual and hotel that these are not the people who originally made the reservation (in terms of whose name was used to make the reservation). Since the couple changed and put the girls name on the reservation, the police arrest both of them.

I got to be honest. When she started crying, I felt bad for her. She also at the end got mad at the dude for laughing with the cop. I kind of believe she wasnt fully aware and might have been young and dumb by putting her name on the reservation.

So vote and let me know where you stand. What should have happend or who is at fault.

Same thing happened here. This happens a lot. Dude didn't wanna snitch on who gave him the card info,....so he had to do the time.....
At least the police were trying to be discrete and not let the dude's child see them puttin cuffs on em.

Damn, I've stayed in that same hotel twice. Everybody was guilty but the girl is likely the least guilty. I'd give her a slap on the wrist if she rolled on the boyfriend. Boyfriend needs to roll on the person that actually stole the information. Everybody takes a hit but the couple gets off light if they cooperate.

If it's not her first time rolling to a hotel with dude, she more than likely already knows the dumb scamming shit that he's into. So fuck her dumb ass too. Shrug

When I was working as a Security Director for hotels in Chicago. This was my biggest issues with people. We use to turn away so people that bought rooms off IG or FB Groups. They would so upset about it especially when they were out of town.

We also had a front desk person arrested because she was working with scammers and got greedy.

They had used the same hookup/scam the night before and it was her card they used so yeah she was aware of what was going on, dudes falling for those female tears talking about she was innocent.. lol

Most of the people in the comments were saying the hotel clerk was in on it, the clerk that was there with the police wasn't the one that checked the people in. what happened was the person info they were using must have gotten an alert from the hotel that they had checked in and contacted the hotel saying it was a mistake, the clerk that originally checked the man and woman in probably left because they knew things were about to go bad.

I see these “travel agents“ on social media all the time with deals that seem to good to be true and this is probably what they're doing

Yeah the current hotel clerk said whoever checked them in should not have because the name information was different.

I saw another the other day a guy had broken into a woman's car and stole her wallet, the hotel allowed him to use the stolen card to check into the room but took a photocopy of his I.D. and attached it to the receipt with the card information on it, the card owner got notification her card was used at the hotel and called the police, dudes I.D. picture was attached to a copy of the stolen card info and he still tried to say he used his credit card which he couldn't find right now... lol

but this dude was crazy blaming the cops instead of himself. At least in the first one, the dude was like dont arrest her and didnt blame the police for his own actions.

Depending on their age, it's possible they were both unaware, however, I doubt it.

He said they'd done this the night before. Is there a reason they didn't book the room for multiple days? They reached out to the plug twice. I'm going to assume different information was given both times. The first time you may not think anything of it or maybe you believe that is the plugs name. The second night with different info is the red flag. Even still, why would the girl need to change the reservation to her name? This is also why I believe the girl was aware. If the boyfriend was making the arrangements, why wouldn't he use his name?who's name got used the night before? The boyfriend or girlfriend and why?

Alternatively, the boyfriend saying they did it the night before doesn't really mean much as far as being aware a crime was taking place. All he's saying is we didn't encounter an issue the night before and it could reinforce why the couple didn't think there was an issue. Some people really are slow or not experienced enough to realize they are being got. I'm only running with this if the boyfriend actually sent the plug some money as in the room was being discounted.

I can see the girl being naive, but im not believing it. For example, my cousins got into a stolen car because they were green allegedly. They were told the car was stolen, but they didn't know the word/phrase used by the boys/men meant it was stolen. That and girls tend to believe that street dudes won't involve them in shit that could get them in trouble. It would be more believable if her name wasn't used/changed on the reservation. Unless the boyfriend used her name and didn't tell her, but that means the boyfriend definitely knew.

yeah they tried to get the hook up from a crook and maybe didn't know that this was at the expense of an innocent 3rd party, and POSSIBLY at best thought that it would only harm the hotel.

moral of the story, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.
