Where Are They Now? (Chris "Play" Martin)

Chris "Play" Martin, 49, (right), who is also the cousin of Martin Lawrence and Hurby "Luv Bug" Azor, was born in Queens, New York. He is a graduate of the High School of Art and Design, in New York City.

Martin has a son, Skyler Martin, with ex-wife Shari Headley (an actress best known for her role in the 1988 comedy Coming To America starring Eddie Murphy-pictured above). The couple married in May 1993 and divorced in June 1995. Years ago, Headley told Jet Magazine that Martin had nothing to do with their son, no birthday cards or Christmas cards. Hopefully, this situation has been resolved.

After Kid & Play became successful, Martin opened up a beauty salon and a leather apparel shop. Unfortunately, both businesses failed.

Martin also has a child with his ex-girlfriend Janae Yvonne Jackson, named Vannessa Martin-Jackson, born in the 80's. Martin now resides in Durham, North Carolina, and was a hip hop teacher at North Carolina Central University until budget cuts forced the school to let him go in 2009. Upon learning of the firing, students began a petition for Martin to be given back the position, along with 9th Wonder. Martin also likes to devote time to the non-profit group Campaign 4 Change.

She's from my hood.... she went to Bayside High with my uncle... Cool as hell... She stayed in the hood FOR YEARS... Even during the height of career... She always stayed in the hood... :yes:

She use to live in Uniondale L.I.

As for Kid N Play. I thought Play was a Youth Minister at the Hip Hop Church or something.

What's Christopher "play" Martin doing living in Duham NC. I used to live in Durham NC for a good minute, this was while attending school. There is nothing there to do really. Unless you were born and raised there, Durham is a place you don't really live in....you just pass through it.

Thats why she was chosen for Coming to America. She was born and raised in Queens N.Y. Shes a Queens native.
