What's the reason the M4 was made? BMW heads?

Just curious, considering its more expensive and slower than an M3. What is the purpose of this car?

As soon as Jagu finishes shining all his shiny things I'm sure he'll respond. He wont pass up an opportunity to surreptitiously celebrate his disposable income.

Different style appeals to different market = more profit....they already have the 4 series, they already have the M3 engine...doesn't cost much to pair them up

Because they've always made them in coupes. If you remember, the first m3 was only made in a coupe version.

I'm sure, you'd be happier if I started a thread "Bgol, please pray for me". You're the type of niglet who prefers to see black men on the downfall. Any hint of well being of a black man burns you inside..because you are stuck in your perpetual wretched position.

If you really had a true idea of my income, you'd hang yourself.

maybe because they wanted to keep the 3-series styling conservative for typical consumers and released the 4 series for those that wanted a more aggressive design? Would have been confusing to then add the convertible / coupe M version of the 4-series to the M3 brand.

They just changed the name. Its still an M3. BMW decided to go with even numbers for coupes and odd numbers for sedans. So the coupe M3 had to change its name to the M4. Just as the coupe 3 series became the 4 series.

3 series = sedan / x3= traditional 4 door
4 series = coupe / x4 = coupish 4 door / dont forget 4 series grand coupe (4 door coupe)
5 series = sedan / x5 - traditional 4 door
6 series = coupe / x6 = coupish 4 door / dont forget 6 series grand coupe (4 door coupe)
7 series = sedan

In the future the 1 will be sedan and 2 will be coupe

Even = coupe
Odd = Sedan

Also keep in mind the M3 has always been a coupe. BMW only recently went back to making a sedan version of it.

The M3 has a more flared and aggressive rear.
