i've noticed soul train has been airing just the "best of" episoded with no new shows for a while now. then i got to wondering...if they were showing new episodes, who the hell would be on them?...lol...seems like over the past few years black music has drastically changed...migrating more towards southern rap/beats or any other stylized beat. yes usually music does evolve but i remember there still used to be artists in other black music genres (real soul, real r&b...) who preserved a particular sound even when new styles were considered "the new thing". maybe it's too late at night but i cannot really think of many current artists out there now in mainstream that has really preserved the sounds of r&b and soul without integrating the southern sound and would be good for soul train...
robin thicke maybe...corinne bailey rae maybe?...
if there were new soul train episodes...which r&b/soul artists (with new material, say an album less than a year old) would be on them?
