Listening to Hot 97...

(dude next to the server room plays it all day:hmm:)

I can't remember the last time I heard a rap song that made me SMILE or Happy or FEEL anything positive HONESTLY!

Ya'll remember the Patty Duke, Running Man the Whop:D

Dancing wasn't some elaborate shit and even thugs had at least one step they would break out at the basement party...

Dancehall reggae in the summer, red light basement whining on some girl...

Back in the Day man especially on Video Music Box...:D

We would laugh and smile and THINK and even my mom would do the Scoob and Scrab when BDK "Get the Job Done" came on:lol:

I cant think of any current song on the radio right now that creates that kind of emotion...

AM I WRONG?

RIP to the homie, he had a string of joints like that

I miss that brother music so much...

hip hop is just so "soul-less" now...

I really cant hear any more drug murder shooting rap...

especially when its done this BADLY:smh:

It's smile-worthy music being made right now.

I didn't take him saying "Hip Hop song that made you smile" literally.

I took it as him referring to songs that take you to a happy place when you hear them. Feel good music, so to speak.

I understand that bruh, I simply meant that if the OP asks "what's the last feel-good hip hop you listened to?" I would imagine that at least some of that music is contemporary. I love the classics being posted in this thread but there's a lot of feel-good, smile-worthy hip hop music being made right now.

Just an observation though :)

Ms Fat Body by Mos Def came on few minutes ago and that made me smile. :)

Honestly, I don't listen to much new rap on the radio unless it's by older artists like Jay, Outkast or guys of that generation.
But the last song that real gave me a feeling deeper than "That song knocks!" was "God in the Building II" by Killer Mike on "Pl3dge". Awesome song on an incredible album.

just not on the radio that much.

I keep posting this cats stuff, but nobody checks it out, nobody comments. There is good music out there, you just gotta find it. But I understand what your saying homie!!! hot 97 isnt what it used to be. The mainstream isn't fun anymore. I'm getting tired of these niggas on the radio, rappin bout how they got this and that. no creativity, no soul.

Dhustla

Dave.... I'ma need you to state your fuckin age! Right na!

I'm conflicted when know-it-alls such as yourself encroach upon the culture of my generation.
I love Bigga's music and pray for him to have all the success in the world, but ...wtf you doing listening to my shit :hmm: ?

You scold us for being villains, yet praise us for being educated.

Get off the fence, mein

track starts @ 3:00 :yes::dance::)

Yaar Matey. I haven't listened to the radio forever bruh... they on that bullshit.

I did bro :)

there was an overall balance bak in the day...

the shit now is cookie cutter.

I understand jacking styles and samples and beats...

DAS EFX...

ALL IS FAIR...

and concerning new dudes

and I actually like that ASAP Rocky dude...

but I just dont ENJOY the music...

shit aint got no shelf life...

What hip hop song of the past 5 years has as much emotional resonance as T.R.O.Y.

and I aint talking club shit (which is fine)

but shit that makes you FEEL something...

look even that Drake Take Care Joint...

I am actually familiar with the Gil Scott sample and that break in the middle is so different to anything else on the radio..

Drake aint really saying shit...

but that shit was partying at my sister's the other day and we all got up dancing and laughing ...

ALL AGES...

Heavy, Kane,Fugees,Pharcyde, Tribe, Snoop even Cool G Rap and them had hours of music like that...

just SOUL MUSIC...(for lack of a better term)
