Check them Ipods! Have black kids started to walk away from rap music? In one large Northeastern city the answer is yes. At least in one predominately black and hispanic high school it has happened. I'm curious to know if this is just a regional thing or is it becoming national trend.
So you ask what is their alternative music choice? Black kids are now listening to hard rock. I never saw this coming. No one could've made me believe black kids would get so bored with black music that they would turn to hard rock.
There's always been a loose connection between rap and rock going back to Run DMC & Aerosmith with "Walk this Way." The question is, is this an indication that both rap and R&B music have become so weak and unimaginative it no long appeals to our kids?
